Great item for the price. I bought the twin for my daughters now converted toddler bed, which still has a crib size mattress in it. I originally thought I could fold it in half but I ended up being able to tri-fold it, and now she has a 4&1/2 inch topper, and she is loving it! it does have a smell out of the package, and it's a little less quality of the gel then some of the ones Ive bought for my husband and I's bed, but if you follow the instructions of letting it air out for 72 hours, the smell goes away, and the the quality doesn't have to be so dense because she's just at 38 pound child, she sinks right in perfect! so, happy with my purchase, for what I used it for. Would buy again.

A few months ago I bought a new (Serta) mattress, it was "firm" based upon recommendations from nearly everyone for a person my age (upper 50's). No complaints about the mattress other than it is HARD and my hips, lower back, etc. were sore in the mornings as I don't have much "meat on my bones." Short of obtaining yet another new mattress, I decided to try a gel mattress pad without investing a lot of money. Thus, this queen sized "Sleep Master" 1.5 inch Gel Memory Foam pad. Yes, it stinks a little when taken out of the box and it does need a few hours to "breath" and expand (the smell - which is not that bad - goes away, just be patient). But, having slept on it for the first night I feel this is the best $49.95 I have spent in a long time. This morning, I realized after being up for an hour this was the first morning in weeks that my back did not ache. Seriously. I placed my Sleep Master Gel pad directly on the top of my mattress (a standard mattress, NOT a pillow top) then stretched my regular mattress pad over it. The bed was then made up as usual (fitted bottom sheet, etc.). The only "modification" was to round the corners of the pad first using a pair of scissors (probably not necessary, but I wanted to do it anyway), other than that the pad fit like a charm. It is now autumn in the midwest and the house is cooling down, so it is hard predict how "hot" this may be during summer months. However, the bed/pad did seem noticeably "cool" where I was laying so maybe there really is something to this whole "gel technology" craze. I based my purchase decision of this product on price and the reviews of others. But, I'm ecstatic about it as I think it has saved me a lot of money and trouble over buying yet another new mattress or purchasing a more expensive pad. This was, for me, a way to economically test the water on a mattress pad and now see no reason to buy anything other than this Sleep Master product. In fact, I'm ready to buy a second one for a guest room.

While this is a great little topper for the price, I bought the queen size and it's a few inches shy of covering my queen sized mattress. When I first put it on (a few hours after taking it from the box) and it didn't fit, I tried to rearrange it to fit - while doing this a whole 8 inch chunk tore out of one of the sides!! I wasn't yanking on it hard at all! I was very disappointed at the obviously poor quality. We're still using the topper, held in place by a mattress pad and I do like the level of comfort it provides. I tried a three inch memory foam topper recently and found that it was far to squishy, but this one is just a bit of softness on the top of our other-wise hard bed. I would recommend splurging for a higher quality 2 inch topper.

Very pleased with this item. It's for my son's dorm room. He loves it. The only thing I was undecided about was that it is soft and squishy material(gel). This is not a hard egg crate. I guess that is the difference with the gel technology but like I said it is for my son and he loves it. I would consider purchasing for other beds in the household. It was one of the nicest foam toppers we've seen and it does not have the famous stink of the white foam toppers.

If you have been looking through all the reviews of different memory foam toppers (as I was not long ago), this will be important for you to read. I ended up purchasing a few and will return all but this one. This is the one you're looking for. It has a nice thickness to it. The "memory" feature returns it to its original size immediately. I had a lot of fun with it rolled out on my floor walking around on it and watching my footsteps disappear immediately. The gel has a surprisingly "cool" feel to it somehow as well. I have used it for a few days now and I'm 100% pleased with it. Fortunately for me, there was no odor at all with mine; I see that other people have reported it. I will be ordering another one as a back-up because for this quality at this price, it can't be beat. You'll be satisfied with paying the few extra bucks for this one, rather than shelling out $25 for the other ones I'm returning (which are a joke). Good luck!

I bought this to go over the mattress in our camper van. Our mattress is on top of a storage space and the back seat laid down, so there was a ridge where the seat met the storage area. This memory foam made it mildly more comfortable, but did nothing to pad that ridge. I expected it to feel like there was a little more padding. It's probably fine for a bed topper, but for our needs, not great.

I bought this for my 10 year old son to go on his twin mattress that is fairly springy and bouncy. The topper arrived fairly quickly. Virtually no odd odors after I unwrapped it. I could see how some people might tear it up through careless handling, but I was gentle with it and had no problems. When putting it on my son's bed, I noticed the flat underside has a fair amount of grip, because of the material, and makes it so that it naturally doesn't want to slide around the mattress which means I don't need to worry about securing it in place with a fitted mattress pad. On the mattress it is very soft, compacts down quickly, and reforms itself within two seconds after lifting my hand off of it. Its going to be perfect for my son. For an adult that weighs as much as I do, 190lbs, this might be a bit on the thin side and may wish to either buy two in order to stack them or just find another one that is thicker,
