Q: Is it possible for the dispenser to be clogged? The gas doesn't go into the car it's trapped in the hose.

Dispenser shouldn’t block, what does the system pressure read on putting the dispenser on the coupling? If the system has pressure (gas) the pressure in the can won’t be enough to put much more in. If the system has pressure but isn’t cooling the system itself is probably blocked with ‘leak stop’ or some sort of similar clag.

As others have stated,NOT all cars are the same. Their are two types of systems and they should never be mixed. Older cars circa 1994-2011 usually have R134A type systems, but the Refrigerant was deemed hazardous to the environment. Post 2011, most cars (but still check the label stuck near your top-up adaptors), are R1234yf type of systems. The two oil/refrigerants should NEVER be mixed. Don't always trust the Car Reg plate (VRN) checkers either. From experience they have been wrong on at least 4 different cars I have topped up. Only ever top-up too, via the larger of the two adaptors (unless you are a profesional, with professional vacumn kit). The latter gas (R1234yf) is usually more expensive, due to the less harm to the environment. However, still don't radomly let it leak out, its nasty stuff in the wrong hands.

Just the job

Just the job for recharging a car's AC from R134a gas and conditioning cylinders. It will fit most cylinders but check the screw thread before purchase.I bought R134a recharge cylinders commonly available on Amazon (see photo). Others are equally as good.The instructions are easy to follow and, the trickiest bit can be finding your AC Low Pressure port. On the Ford Focus, this is inconveniently hidden behind the engine!This kit has a trigger mechanism for dispensing the gas. I find this easier to use than those with a tap valve.I have used it a couple of times on our cars at home with no issues.Reasonably priced and quick delivery....
