Heavier than expected but well made
OMG, this is a well made umbrella. This is heavier than expected but if this is the last umbrella I have to purchase -- it is worth it. I normally purchase two to four umbrellas per summer for my outdoor job. I took it to an recreation football game and it stood up to 25 MPH winds. WTG. Update: I took it with us on a nature hike -- only complaint I had was that it does not have a strap so you can put it over your neck and carry it on your back. Instead I had to use it as a walking stick. Enjoyed it when it rained but it is not the best walking stick. LifeTek -- put a strap on the umbrella cover and you will have the BEST umbrella on the market.

Umbrella by Life Tek
My wife suffers from MPS. The lay person should be informed that Mary Poppins Syndrome infects every little girl wanting to fly using an umbrella! While my little girl is in her sixties, she still has a need to open up her umbrellas on windy, rainy days. Thus far, this is the only one that hasn't been turned inside out and torn to shreds. If she's happy-then I'm happy.

Solid umbrella very happy with the purchase
Solid umbrella very happy with the purchase, After I lost a similar umbrella similar to this one, I had been on a quest to find the perfect one for me. I couldn't just buy any umbrella that I looked at, it had to have style, strength at great price. Soon as I saw it from pictures that was exactly what I was looking for. It arrived very quick, when I opened the package it was very well protected, it comes with a protective hood to shelter it from dirt and humidity and other particles that can age it. I already used at at mid December 2016 and In January 2017 in Los Angeles were we had one of the wettest months in decades. The umbrella performed beautifully, it stayed solid in strong winds with out a flinch. Very happy with purchase I would recommend it.

I was tired of buying umbrellas that were too small and seemed to break easily so I took a long look at this umbrella
When I decided to purchase an umbrella, I wanted one that was big enough to keep the rain off of me and whatever I happen to be carrying at the time. I was tired of buying umbrellas that were too small and seemed to break easily so I took a long look at this umbrella.I've had this umbrella since February (so 3 months at the time I'm writing this review) and I have had no issues with it. It's very sturdy (no leaks, failures of any kind), holds up to wind gusts very well and I use it all the time. There's definitely room for two people if you need it. I would have no hesitations about buying another one should anything happen to the one I'm using now. I would say that this umbrella has exceeded my expectations and would recommend it if you are tired of small umbrellas and want one that will last a while.

Solid performer, well built, and very useful
My current job affords me the ability to take the train to and from the office. Part of this ritual is the 1.1 mile walk from my house to the train station. Not a big deal, but lately, the storms have been pretty impressive here in California. Alas, to avoid the rain, I used the small travel umbrellas that we had collected.Unfortunately, they are a bit small, and I was getting pretty wet. Add to that the 30+ MPH gusting winds, and those umbrellas were flipping inside out (not a complaint mind you, they were clearly not intended for such conditions.)So I went hunting for something a bit more robust, and I found this on Amazon. It is big, so it does a pretty good job of keeping the wet off. It does have vents to prevent the flipping of the umbrella in gusting winds. It doesn't have auto close, or any other frippery, but it is a solid, well built umbrella. It meets my needs, and I expect that it will service me well for a long time. Definitely not compact or for travel, but that isn't what I needed.

Review After 2 Years of Use
I would say it's worth every penny that I paid for it. It's strong and sturdy enough that the top won't flip over and to not sway like cheaper umbrellas do under strong wind. Even after heavy use for the past two winters of heavy rain, the top looks like it's new. There are two downsides that I am rather unhappy with and hence the 4 stars instead of the 5.The first is that, like other people mentioned, the handle coating is prone to peeling - don't drop it or scrape it because it will peel/scrape off! It's not a big issue as it doesn't make the handle rough or anything. It just looks ugly since there's visible damage. The second is that the velcro on the two straps literally ripped each other off each other. I don't know if you get what I mean but refer to the pictures. I recall the velcro being VERY strong so maybe it's that? But after a year, I noticed that the velcro was gradually getting weaker and weaker to the point that now the top velcro doesn't even stay closed. Upon closer inspection, you can see that the mini hooks on one side of the velcro was pulled so much by the looped side that it no longer retains its hooked shape while the looped side literally was ripped off, leaving patches of no loops.Overall, its a good umbrella, minus these two things. It's just that it's rather annoying to up back into the sleeve since it will be all wet from the rain and the umbrella is a pain to slide into when not closed tightly with the velcro strapsUpdate 2/15/19After contacting the seller, I got an email the next day where they offered to send me a new one and I received a replacement! Thanks for keeping true to your word and product!

Durable but Heavy
Super durable, and a great size. I purchased this for walking the dog in the rain and it works very well, however it’s too heavy to be comfortable doing so. Serves its purpose and definitely wind proof, but shaving a few pounds off it would improve it substantially.

Hugely Disappointing
This umbrella had great reviews, so even though it was more expensive than virtually all similar umbrellas, I ordered it as a gift. The product I got was defective; could not even open it fully once. The shaft of the umbrella was defective, preventing the umbrella from opening. There was also some kind of glue or crud on the umbrella shaft which was not removable. So totally unusable product. In this respect (since it was supposedly a high quality and expensive umbrella), you certainly don't get what you pay for.
