Live At Montreux 1992[DVD]

Does Not Lose His Cool
Great performance by Albert and his band at Montreux. Surprised that his band in 1992 consisted primarily of honkeys! There is nothing cooler than seeing Albert take his 150-foot cord and play tasty leads to audience members. I was always impressed with his fingerpicking style. And his nails are well-manicured for those close-ups! This release sounds exceptionally good for being 2 old shows on DVD. Holy crap, do I wish they included the full 1979 Montreux set. On the 4 tracks included here, he is absolutely going mental. I wanted more! It seemed very impromptu (a stagehand tells him while he's playing onstage), but Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown guests on Frosty. Albert's cutting, overdriven tone is a stark contrast to Clarence's squeeky-clean leads. No contest!

Great Texas Electric Blues By Albert Collins & Band!!! Includes Electric Blues Guitar at its Best!!!
This is a fantastic concert by the late/great Texas Bluesman, Albert Collins. Albert Collins has his own unique electric guitar playing style. He plays a Fender Telocaster, electric guitar. He was known as the "Master of the Telocaster". This is one "Awesome", electric, blues guitar concerts. This concert contains some great guitar "jam", electric, guitar solo, performances by Albert & Pete Thoennes. They can really "jam" on their electric guitars. Albert was a big influence on the late/great Stevie Ray Vaughan, another great Texas Blues Guitarist. He also influenced the late/great, Jimi Hendrix, and many more blues artists. Albert picks the guitar with his fingers, and he uses a capo, high up on the neck of the electric guitar, which gave him a unique style, and a unique sound. This DVD is electric blues at it's best. This DVD has excellent sound quality that is "rich & deep", because of Albert's unique guitar style, and because of his great backing bands. Also, on the last song of the 1979 concert, "Frosty", Albert is joined by the late/great Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, accompanying him on electric guitar. Also during the show, a fan gets on stage and plays harmonia, but he is ignored by Albert and his band. This is definitely electric, blues guitar, & band blues at it's very best. Albert even goes out into the audience playing his electric, Fender Telocaster. He was an excellent entertainer. This dvd is simply "Awesome"!!!The amazon product description gives the song list, so there's no need to repeat that here. The total running time is about 102 minutes.Albert has a great backing band as follows:The line-up in the 1992 concert is:Albert Collins - Electric Guitar, Lead VocalsPeter Thoennes - Electric guitarBobby Alexis - KeyboardsJon Smith - SaxaphoneSteve Howard - TrumpetJohnny B. Gayden - Electric Bass guitarMarty Binden - DrumsThe line-up for the 1979 portion is:Albert Collins - Electric guitar, lead vocalsA.C.Reed - Tenor Saxaphone, vocalsLarry Burton - electric guitarAron Burton - Electric Bass guitar, vocalsCasey Jones - Drums, vocalsSpecial Guest Artist - Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown - Electric guitarSo with the depth & breath, of musicians performing in these concerts, you get great sound quaity, and also great visual quality. If you like Electric, Texas Blues, then you will really enjoy this dvd. Thanks!!!

Fans must buy!
He may look like one of those beer-bellied uncles who drink stout at 7am at our neighbourhood coffee shop, until he starts playing the tele. It is not difficult to `spot' his style: sustaining the ending note, sliding his strings to make his solos sing, and the obvious capo'ing at the 7th fret to make his notes sound sharper , plus slinging his tele on his right shoulder picking with fingers. Th...e climax came when he submerged into the middle of the predominantly white crowd, walking around like 50 meters with his tele wired. This is similar to the Buddy Guy's concert when he performed in Singapore and appeared through the door right beside the audience. What was different was you don't see those phone cameras from the crowd and you see people smoking at their seats instead in those days. And one interesting set was when Albert had to restrain an over enthusiastic bared chested young audience from blowing his harmonica too soon. Nice with the combination of bak kua and red wine in a lazy afternoon.

Your kidding
Get this for under $10 NOW! 107 minutes which is the maximum amount of time allowed on a dual layer disc at maximum quality. GO FOR 10 ALBERT COLLINS DVDs, you can come close. Just learned of a VHS and Laserdisc called jazzvision 1986. Somebody please tell me this is something I don't have. I've watched the Barrelhouse footage, just a few precious hours of AC left in the vaults.

da avere assolutamente
una delle migliori performance registrate. Montreux è spesso una ganazia; qui abbiamo un formato obsoleto in DVD e non in HD ma la registrazione audio è notevole sia nella traccia stereo che DTS.
