I have no problem tying fishing knots from the Palomar to improved clinch knots. That being said I LOVE this tool. It is very handy when you have a line in the water and you need a secure knot now, when your hands are wet and you are in a hurry. I have two of them. I keep on on my tackle box and one at home.If you are a novice this tool will really help. If you are experienced it will help more. The knots are consistent and fast. I tied two nail knots to splice leader to line and pulled in a 38" snook with the line so the know is secure.

My eyesight is not as good as it used to be. This knot tyer works great in joining Crystal Fireline and a fluorocarbon leader, Better than a blood knot as I can tie a 'nail knot', which is more secure and less slippage. Also works on tying on lures to the leader.

It works just like the original I bought back in the early 90's(which I found after buying this new tyer).The parkerizing or whatever finish they use is of a much lower quality than the old one. Function is just as good, just sad to see another sign if cheapening American quality.

This is one of those little tools that you just can't do without. It's does more than just tie nail knots, which I used to hate to tie. Not anymore. With this tool it's actually simple to get a perfect nail knot the first time. It also ties a splice that is so superior to the old blood knot that it's a no brainer, and it's easy to tie with this tool. What about snelling hooks? Simple with this tool. If you need help with tying knots, then this tool is for you. My eyesight isn't what it used to be and my hands are so dry from blood pressure medicine that I was desperate to find something that could help me. Well I found it in this little tool. So far, this tool hasn't really worked all that well for me. Working with some stiff Maxima mono, I keep getting crossed loops on my finished knot. I know lots of people swear by it, but I'm still skeptical on this thing. I'll give it another try and update the review if I remember.
