Aksoy Premium Ground Sumac 2KG - 2x1KG

Good organic quality, excellent flavour and reasonable price

When my usual supermarket stopped selling sumac I turned to Amazon to find a substitute. This brand was so much less expensive than others and curiosity got the better of me, and so far I'm pleased it did. It is very different from the sumac I've been using which was finely ground, darker and dry: this one is coarse, redder and moist. It also has much more flavour and the citrus note is bright and fresh as opposed to being muted and barely discernible. Some people obviously find the coarseness unappealing but it doesn't bother me at all and seems like a small trade-off for superior flavour.My only reservation (and the only reason for dropping a star) is it's moisture content and how well it will keep once opened (and a kilo will last me a very, very long time). I am going to store some of it in small packages in the freezer, some in the fridge and the rest in the cupboard. I will try to remember to update this review with the results.Over all I am very pleased with my purchase and even if I use only quarter of it it will still be far more cost effective than the little tubs I was buying before - and it tastes so much more ... More fresh, more concentrated, more lemony.

I ordered as I was really pleased with a previous order last year. This is completely different to the previous order which had a really pleasant lemony flavour and was like a very fine dry consistency. The latest order is very large rough pieces and it is really damp. Impossible to sprinkle and tastes awful really overwhelming. I have had to throw it in the bin. I would give it no stars if I could.

This is the first time I've used Sumac and it tasted great!
