Epilepsy in Children: What Every Parent Needs to Know Paperback – December 2, 2015

I am only halfway through the book so far and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who either has a child with epilepsy, or simply trying to get a better understanding of epilepsy in children.

Although published 8 or 9 years ago, this book is a wealth of information in terms of reasons for epilepsy and medications. I highly recommend it for families, immediate or extended, who have a loved one living with epilepsy.

Excellent and fast read! We all know knowledge is power. This book should be every parents and grandparents first read.

great book with lots of information

Orrin Devinsky is one of the top experts in pediatric epilepsy. I know because I have researched this topic to death. I know more about pediatric epilepsy than do most residents in training in pediatric hospitals. This point is verified to me each time I have to take my child to the ER. I have listened to over 50 webinars on the subject and my child has been seen in four major hospital systems for severe intractable epilepsy. If your child has epilepsy or was just diagnosed with epilepsy, this is the book for you. Epilepsy is one of the worst researched diseases around. Hardly any research dollars are targeted for this neurological disorder. It is hard to get quality care for your child and you have to be on your toes to tell some doctor no when he wants to put your child on his sixth anti-seizure medication simultaneously! Been there, done that. This book explains the types of epilepsy, medications and their side effects (and there are LOTS of side effects), and non-pharmacological therapies like Vagal Nerve Stimulator and the Ketogenic Diet. This book would be the first thing I would buy if my child was just diagnosed. Be informed about the best options for your child's health. They deserve no less.

Worse, he charged me and my insurance for a few minute conversation to make him aware of Siddhartha Nadkarni's improper care in providing undated prescriptions for controlled substance due to his erratic behavior, and inability to reach him, or rely on him to provide routine prescriptions, much less returned calls, or appointments. I also incurred significant malicious retaliation in the form of spoliation of my medical record and was threatened for having appropriately elevated these serious matters to the proper authorities. Orrin Devinsky could not care less about patients or patient care. In my experience, he is an individual who is amoral, and whose motives are purely mercenary.
