Olsen's Herring in Cream Sauce - 4 pack

Read all the 5 star reviews below - and believe them - this is TERRIFIC herring. Growing up, It was a 'treat' food, but always a jar in the fridge. If we couldn't buy deli, we bought Vita. Somewhere along the line grocers in the Washington D.C. area went to cheaper brands, often nothing. So I would splurge a few times a year and order some from the Barney Greengrass deli in NYC (a NY Times top restaurant). i prefer the Olsen's, it isn't as sweet, and has a bit more herring. And Olsen's has a better handle on shipping costs so it is comparable to supermarket brands. BTW, Barneys does a lox in sour cream that is fantastic - expensive, but a couple of times a year treat (you'll thank yourself). And their breads and rolls are as good as it gets.

Living in Hawaii it’s hard to find stuff like this. This reminded me of the old days living back in New York taste great comes in four separate jars, so nothing goes for waste

Smaller jars (Order as a 4-pak)!! are cost-efficient and very practical for longevity in refrigeration.Alternative brand, Viking Prime, same great sour cream taste, but the cutlets in the Viking brand are even better as to size-thickness of the fish itself. Sour cream and onions in each brand are similar. By ordering the Viking brand two (they're larger) jars at a time, the costs per ounce become similar as with 4pak of Olsen. Cold-pack Shipping is a major cost in either.

I work for a 88 year old lady and she loves this product and she hasn't had it in I don't know how long and she started to cry when I showed her that i got it for her. After she had it she then goes... I have 2 words. BEST EVER!!! Thank you so much for your product and company.

My fault, I saw pickled herring in sour cream sauce and assumed it was sour cream. It is a sauce. For those of you looking for Vita's pickled herring in sour cream, this is not it. What I finally did was to drain all the sauce and ut the herring in real sour cream, which I wont to again.

I am originally from Germany and grew up eating a lot of varieties of prepared Herring. A lot of commercial products are sour or bitter, and have consistency issues. This product is a perfect example of Herring in Cream, tasty, fresh, just yummy. The seller Norsland from Minnesota is very customer oriented and reliable with fast and well packaged delivery. Highly recommend.
