I've owned my Kuerig K40 single serve coffee maker for about 8 yrs. Never had any problems. I always use Folgers med. roast coffee k-cups and Deer Park bottled spring water in it. Nothing else and I've never cleaned it. 4 or 5 days ago I noticed it making a noise that I haven't heard before so I decided to try a descaler. I got FreshFlow's coffee machine descaler w/4 filters. Took the bottom of my machine off to find no water filter inside. Put it back together and followed the directions on the back of the two bottles of descaler. "Man! What a difference!" No more noise with a better taste and I can actually see steam coming from each cup of coffee. This stuff works!10-12 years ago I got the same Kuerig K-40 single serve coffee maker and was using tap water. My mom would come over once a year to run white distilled vinegar through it to make the coffee taste better. That coffee maker only last 4 or 5 yrs.
