Area by the door hinge isn’t soldered making the door very unstable and unsafe. I can pop it into place temporarily, but every time the door opens it pops out again. Might just be a one-off defect but very disappointing none the less.

Product description in order states 10x7 pet door. The pet door was 8x8. Either I got the wrong doors or the description is a lie. Not impressed at all

This gate is great! I bought one at a franchise pet store which I thought was great-did the job preventing my dog from escaping the room, cat gate was nice big rectangle, but what makes this gate better is that the swinging door swings both ways!!! Game changer. The one from the store will only swing one way. This gate also allows you to keep it just one way if you like. The cat gate is a square but still big enough for any regular cat (even the fluffier ones) to get through. I knocked 1 star for sturdiness because the gate does have some give so I’m not sure if it will stand up to big dogs who are determined to get out. I’ve only had it for a few days so if anything changes, I’ll update my review.

I appreciated the help on getting the right size gate for our opening. We are using this to keep our dogs out of the kitchen but allow our cats (and us people!) to get back and forth. We just put the gate up a couple of days ago and it works well, with one exception: I will agree with others that it would be better, at least for us, if the cat door was smaller. Our 19" tall, 36 pound Border Collie can squeeze through it with ease (and she is our main problem child with getting into the kitchen). However, there is enough room at the sides that I think all our cats can get through that way, so our plan for the time being is to leave the small door closed. If that doesn't work, we may try what others have suggested and cut one bar out of the small door so cats can fit but hopefully not a very willful Border Collie!

This gate is capable of handling pretty wide openings by including extra extenders in the package. While it does feel pretty secure, I find that it has some back and forth movement where the extenders meet the main piece. I was unable to find a different gate that opens wide enough for my budget, so I duct tapped one of those free paint stirs at the junction and it made quite a difference. I couldn't increase the pressure as it made the latch more difficult to operate, and i was scared of damaging one wall. But the shim has made this gate a really great fit. I'm confident in my baby's safety which is why I needed the gate.
