Q: can the mounting plate be changed out to a round one?

The plate is permanently attached. Can not be swapped out. That plate size was chosen for its shape and strength, any modification to that plate shape or mounting hole pattern will compromise the performance of this caster.

Q: How do I order replacement tires? They wore out on stone floor.

I am sorry, but we do not have replacement wheels for this item.

Q: How will these work on a a wool area rug?

Not knowing how large the area rug is, or how large the item is that you want to attach these casters to, it is hard to make that determination. I believe these would work better on a hard surface. But if the wool rug is sturdy enough, these could work.

Q: Could these be mounted to the bottom of a 2.5" x 2.5" wooden table leg?
