Mary Berry's Family Sunday Lunches

Recipes are easy to follow and do not require many ingredients
My first non baking book by Mary Berry. Recipes are easy to follow and do not require many ingredients. The meals really are the kind I like to do on Sunday (when my girlfriend and I take a pause from the weeks activities and sit down to a nice meal with wine on china plates just for two). This book is for preparing home meals, not replicating the dining experience at Les Halles. There are plenty of books for that. This won't challenge an experienced cook but it does provide good recipes that bring me back to childhood weekends when the smells from the kitchen would make make me feel good.Mary is not only the queen of baking (though she is that)!

British Savory Recipes
This book is definitely English. It contains far more savory recipes than sweet ones. The measurements are all in metric and require a fair amount of work to convert to American measures. The recipes are well written and there are pictures. I do not see myself using many of these recipes as Sunday lunch is not an American tradition in the same way it is in Great Britain. A fun book to read but not one that will be well worn at least in my kitchen.

Good international conversion keys
I really liked the way Mary Berry tells you what foods can be made ahead and/or frozen ahead in order to give you as much time as possible to spend with your family. Family dinner is a tradition with our family, and I will be using these great recipes for years to come. I also like the use of less typical ingredients that gives a broader range of flavors. Great recipes.

All you need for great dinners
Great book with tons of suggestions - takes me right back to my days growing up in Yorkshire and the school recipes and grandparent recipes I learnt as a child. Nice to have them all so elegantly written up and illustrated. Look forward to passing them on to my children and grandchildren.

Another winner for Mary Berry
Mary is such a wonderful chef. Her recipes are clear cut and easy. But incredients are stated in metric system.

Rehash
A rehash of the same recipes. Nothing new or even tempting. Very very disappointing. Don’t waste your time or money on this one.

Disappointment
Am a great fan of Mary Berry but was so disappointed when this book arrived and found it was almost the same as Mary Berry Family Sunday Lunches purchased in 2011.
