Works Great On Large Door
Updated Review: It is now the end of July 2024. My Genie 6072 broke! This is disappointing. I didn't notice any "warning signs" prior to the failure. I used the remote to command the door open, it hesitated a bit, something inside popped, and that was the end of any movement one way or the other. I removed the two screws that allow access inside the power head. When I pulled the front panel off, a couple of large plastic chunks came out! This is a major piece of the internal drive shaft. After some further research on the Genie parts page, this part is not available as a repair part. That was interesting! Lucky for me, Genie has a 5 year warranty on parts! The "fix" apparently, is just to replace the entire powerhead. I contacted Genie Customer Support at their 800 number. It was about a two minute wait on the phone. When this nice lady came on the line, she got my info and told me they'd be sending out a new power head - free! All they asked for was the shipping fee ($18). She also sent an email so I could attach proof of purchase (my Amazon invoice worked for that) and a picture of the part. That's all there was to it! Frankly, pulling the old power head and installing a new one is going to be easier than trying to fit in a new part to the old power head anyway. As for the broken unit, she said, "Keep it. Use it for spare parts - whatever." So I'm sticking to my 5 star rating. Sure, it broke less than two years into use, but the warranty part is a whole free unit and the customer support was SO GOOD, I'm not going to complain! When the part arrives, I'll take an hour or so to swap them out and be back in business. It has been a terrific opener!I have several large overhead doors on one of my buildings. I wanted to automate at least one; got tired of giving all of them the old heave-ho to get them open. Not getting any younger! Anyway... I chose one of the 12H x 14W doors. The height and weight (280 lbs) pretty much ruled out any track and chain type drive. I reviewed a bunch of specs and decided the Genie should do the job. In short: it did! Installation was very straight forward and easy. The instructions provided are clear and well thought out. There's even a nice video that walks you thru it. This particular door needed some adjustment and the torsion springs had weakened. I decided to replace the springs (which I did myself and that went well - thanks, YouTube!) So after the clean, lube, springs, and adjustments, the door was easily liftable with one hand. BUT... I actually installed and tried the Genie before all the spring and door work. IT STILL LIFTED THE DOOR! Honestly, step 1 of the install is to make sure your door works smoothly FIRST. So needless to say, the Genie worked much smoother and quieter after all the door work. It's nice to have a 12ft door that will open all the way automatically. One caveat to my installation I'd like to point out: I own a scissor lift, so all the spring and opener work was much easier (and safer) than having to climb a ladder over and over across a 14ft wide door. I don't think I would have liked working that high on a ladder. I will say, though, if I had to install just the Genie on a tall ladder, it was easy enough that I could probably do it. The mounting is super simple; the unit slides onto the torsion bar and one lag screw secures it to the building frame. (Now running all that little beam break sensor wire over and down to each side would have been tedious on a ladder.) So overall, the Genie was easy to put in, seems plenty strong to do the job, and I may end up doing the other doors as well! Also, the wireless opener switch works great and the key fob opener works from like 50+ yards away. I can open this door from across the road at my other building! Cool! Too bad I don't have wi-fi at that building. It would be nice to be able to use that feature from my phone.

Simple door opener
So far this door opener is working great, I've installed several door openers and I think this is the easiest of them all. Will never go back to a track type opener again because of the simplicity of this opener and its quiet. Also it adapts well to big/tall/heavy doors which I have, it's not fast but it opens and closes alright, I have 2 of them and planning on getting two more for my other doors.

Quiet and dependable door opener, worth the extra expense.
This is my second one of these. I wouldn't consider another type now, this one is so quiet. Additionally, I like the physics of this, rather than pulling the door against the springs, it twists the shaft the springs work on. Plus more room overhead because you don't have the chain drive up there. Install took me about 3 hours. The hardest part is dealing with the cord to the sensors, it wants to stay wound and gets tangled easily, plus it's hard to separate the 2 strands because it's so small - hint use small pliers to hold one side as you twist the other wire down. Once you get it started it's fine.

Really good, but open and close points reset sometimes
It is very quiet. Its easy to install. It clears up space above the door.It would be nice to have zwave so it can integrate with smart homes. The current integration of all garage doors is terrible. I would not trust any of them to be connected to a wifi.It also randomly has an error that requires setting the close and open points again. It's happened 3 times over the past year.Other than bad tech, which is the same as all other openers, it's really nice. I dont even hear the garage opening from the next room. The only sound is the door itself.I was told by a garage technician that they charge more for the garage door companies to buy them, so he was against it. Id call that a win for consumers.

Nice opener
Went together pretty nice. Some of the instructions were a bit vague but go it working. Like how quiet it is.

Won’t stand behind their warranty!
UPDATE! Ot upholding their warranty. Been emailing with Genie for two weeks now. This is how it goes. I sent in the warranty, four days later they responded with a bunch of troubleshooting tips. None worked. Told them this. 3 days later I get another response asking about more troubleshooting. They still don’t understand that it’s all been done. I responded to them then another couple of days go by before I get a response. Two days ago i sent them all the information about the unit. Today they want me to troubleshoot it again. Not happening. The opener doesn’t work and now it just seems like they don’t want to uphold their warranty and keep giving me the run around. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I would advise against getting anything from Genie.2 years and it stopped working. Purple lights on all the time now. Did the troubleshooting found online but didn't work. It's getting a signal from the remote but won't open the door. The Bluetooth light works so I know it's picking up the signal. Sent a request to Genie 3 days ago and haven't heard anything back. Seems like these products should last longer than 2 years. This opener is the only option I have for the garage door so let's hope Genie honors their warranty.
