made of solid plastic, it fits right and helps keep the mailbox closed. Nothing fancy, but seems quite functional. I imagine it will last for many years. If not, I'll be back.

Because the latch did not fit my mailbox, I cannot attest to its function, but it appears that it should work okay. I was immediately turned off by the fact that the latch does not secure with screws but with pegs and a slider plate that holds onto the pegs on the inside. Giving it the benefit of the doubt, I rate this item 4 stars.If you decide to purchase this latch I would advise you to measure carefully. Unfortunately the specs do not provide a lot of detail, so it's a bit hard to know for sure whether it will fix your mailbox. The holes need to be about 5/16". I would have had to drill out my holes a little, but that would not be a problem. The bigger problem for me was that the center of the front hole on top must be 1" from surface of the door. The holes on my mailbox are set further back, making the top piece too short. The same is true for the piece that fits on the door. My holes would make that piece fit too low. The top hole would have to be 1" from the top of the mailbox. Those are critical dimensions that should be included in the product description. I don't want to drill new holes in the top of my mailbox to make this item work if I can avoid it.A better design would be to secure with screws and use slots instead of screw holes to allow for the pieces to slide fore and aft to make them align properly.

Great option to restore an old mailbox. Was easy to install and looks and functions just like the original hardware. Shuts and locks like it should. Great value for the price.

The door latch is not tall enough to close the door tightly. Due to its poor design it cannot be adjusted. It easier for me to throw it away than drive to return it back. Unless you are lucky it will not fit properly.

The posts on the parts don’t match the holes in the mailbox. Only about 1/4 off, just enough to make it impossible. I didn’t even consider it might not fit.
