Modified for transferring large files on to 1TB Micro SD's.
This SD card reader met my needs exactly. I was looking for a small USB 3.0 to SD card hub that I could modify with a heat sink and fan to keep temperatures low while transferring large files. This fit the bill and worked out better than I had imagined. Before getting this I would see temperatures exceeding 150 degrees Fahrenheit while transferring lots of data to these micro SD cards. I've even had SD cards fail because of heat. They became corrupted and I would have to reformat, and start loading them all over again. We all know these 1TB SanDisk micro SD's are not cheap, so I decided to do something about it.I ordered this reader along with some .5mm Thermal Grizzly Minus Pad, and 1.5mm Thermalright thermal pads. Added a 5 volt "NewHail Replacement Heatsink Cooling Fan" that I found on Amazon also. The results speak for themselves.I soldered into the 5 volt rail on the readers logic board so the fan gets power from the USB. After doing so I positioned the thermal pads on top of the micro SD card slot, and on top of the reader chip to then lay evenly on the bottom of the heat sink. Added hot glue because I can always remove it if need be. If you are unaware, isopropyl alcohol will loosen hot glue and make it easy to remove.I then plugged it in to my PC, and transferred several large 20 gigabyte files. The micro SD card is the hottest point in the pictures from my UNI-T UTi260B thermal camera. I could only get the SD card to heat up to around 102-104 degrees Fahrenheit with large files. Small files it would average around 98.5 degrees F. That is nearly a 50 degree difference!!!A lot of you are going to laugh at this review, but for me this was a needed solution for the issues I was facing loading 1 terabyte micro SD cards. I thank U-Green for making a product that fit my needs exactly.

it does the job
my only complaint is that the cable is too short and stiff, so it just hangs there flaccid on my desk while plugged into my powered USB hub.

Has held up really well
I use this regularly and it works great after a year and a half. The USB connecting wire is short but thick and sturdy. It holds up well. Sometimes the cards need to be inserted over again because they didn't read the first time. I usually blow a little air in (I use a little old school camera dust cleaner with the air pouch you squeeze so the air shoots through a small tube) just to make sure the contacts aren't dusty. I recommend storing the reader when not in use to avoid that but I sometimes get lazy and dont bother. There are two slots, one for standard sd and one for micro sd cards. I never used both at the same time so I can't say if that's possible or not.The transfer speed is pretty good if the cards are in properly and their contacts are clean. I think the time is between 13. And 17. mb per second. I dont know how that rates against others but that's the best I have personally encountered.I've experienced other card readers whose circuitry gets fouled up fairly quickly and becomes worthless but that hasn't happened yet after a year and a half. I am super careful with all card readers so not to drop them just in case of that internal damage. I don't know how delicate this one is but I assume all card readers are delicate. I once had one last less than a week once. This reader is going strong after 18 months. I suspect it will last as long as I need it.

So far I'm very impressed
I bought this product because I wanted to be able to easily transfer my music library from I tunes to my android phone. So far I am very impressed.I plugged the SD card reader into my Imac ( Running the latest version of Yosemite as it's OS). Then I popped a 120GB scan disk micro SD card into the reader. There was no installation process and no searching for the card necessary. An untitled drive popped up in my finder and it was as simple as dragging and dropping files. I named a folder music on the SD card and dropped my entire I tunes library onto it. It's OK about an hour and a 1/2 to copy the files ( Roughly 86 gigs worth). After the files were copied I put the SD card into my Galaxy S8 phone. The song was instantly able to recognize the SD card and the files on it without any trouble. I opened rocket player ( My music player of choice) And all of my songs were there, ready to be played. If you know anything about the compatibility between Mackintosh and android products. You know that it's a nightmare trying to get files from one to the other. This has made that process incredibly easy.Sense copying my music library, I have used the SD card reader to transfer files 2 more times And have still not had any problems. I have only used the SD card reader a grand total of 3 times so far. So I cannot speak to the longevity of the device. But as it stands right now, I love it and I hope to get a lot of use out of it.
