Issues when received but resolved quickly by GVM
**UPDATE**I emailed GVM straight after I received the slider and explained my issues. I'm happy to report that they were quick to respond and offered me compensation. I'm happy with the resolution and very happy with the customer service I received. Thank you for sorting so quickly GVM. Good customer service is hard to find. :)**ORIGINAL REVIEW**Just received this today and so far a little disappointed. I ordered the 48" version, so quite a lot of money (£469) and I've been let down by poor quality control. I also feel this was slightly miss advertised when it comes to the 'mute motor' part. So...Pros:1. Seems pretty smooth and generally build quality is good (not sure if it's £469 good though, time will tell. )2. Pan head works pretty well although not ultra smooth at end points when looping.3. Pretty easy to use once you've figured the remote out.Cons:1. There is sticky glue on the carbon fibre rail next to one of the supports which indicates someone missed the first time, then put it in the right place without cleaning the glue up.2. Ball head also has sticky glue on and slight damage to the plate indicating it was used by someone else.3. Foam packaging damaged. Not the end of the world but again shows quality control issues and lack of attention to detail.4. Motor is NOT completely mute. When power is on, there is a constant high pitch noise and louder when in operation. Yet to find out if will be picked up by mic.5. Markers on pan head don't quite align with arrows. (Markers on the the ends of the pan bar would also be very useful)6. Controller feels like a cheap toy. Cheap plastic. Buttons feel horrible. Menu system outdated and unintuitive.7. Doesn't remember A-B settings on power off. This would be such an easy fix and would be really useful.I really hope GVM read this and take a good look at their quality control. If GVM can rectify my issues then I'll happily update this review.

Great quality low budget slider
I did a lot of research before buying this GVM slider. I watched a lot of YouTube videos about it, and they all seemed to be generally positive. Having purchased this slider and used for several months, I'm happy to report that I concur with their opinions: this is a great slider for the price! There are a couple of obvious caveats: the battery comes out a little too easily and there is a slight bit of wiggle between the slider plate and the tripod head. But compared to the overall value, it's really hard to complain. It supports my fully rigged out BMPCC 4K (although I am using my own fluid head. The included ball head is great quality and works with no problems with my smaller Sony cameras, but needed something beefier for this pro set-up). I wouldn't use this heavy set-up on an inclined angle, but 99.9% of the time I only want a totally flat slide, so not an issue. And if I did want a camera track going up an angle, I'd use a lighter camera rig.Only the controller feels a little cheap (but does the job), however, the slider itself feels solid and up to the task. Whilst not the quietest slider, I've shot interviews with this and not heard it in the audio (both lav and shotgun mics). It is really simple to use and comes with everything you need, including battery. As a first motorised slider I cannot recommend this highly enough. It's obviously not going to compete with the Rhino or edlekrone sliders of the world, but if you want a really solid, no frills, motorised slider that gets the job done with a minimum of fuss, then you can't go wrong with this slider. In summary: excellent value slider that lives up to its modest hype. Be realistic with your expectations and you will not be disappointed.

This slider competes with even the most expensive ones on the market
This slider competes with even the most expensive ones on the marketThe reason I am writing this review is to hopefully save you weeks of research and confusion in trying to find a reasonably affordable motorised slider that is quiet enough for interview work.GVM's communications have been outstanding, answering all my questions to the point where I would be happy to proceed. Took delivery of the new 31" model on Monday - And I am glad to say for the money £360 Amazon it is outstanding. As with any of these sliders I would not use the onboard camera mic when filming. Use either Boom, Lav or any mic that is not built into camera. The holy grail of affordable motorised slidersThis 31" GVW is a super silent slider. Make sure you get the latest version. Which will have the conveyor belt drive system and has the motor permanently mounted at the end of the track. I honestly believe that the conveyor belt and end mounted motor contribute to silent operation as long as you don't rely on the camera's onboard mic.Unlike all the others I have seen in this price range this unit has the drive belt permanently attach to the moving head (which now comes with a ball head included!)Ready to runOther than attaching the ball head (which is included) and power/remote cable this slider is ready to go straight out of the box.Moving the motor to the end of the rail gives the added benefits of even quieter operation and unlike moving head mounted motors there are no trailing wires moving back and forward when in motion.Climb every mountain! As you can see from the photo, I set the tripod to as near to vertical as it would go and the slider coped with no performance issues at all. Used with Sony NEX VG20.When interviewing in small spaces I need a reasonably compact setup. Which is why I use a small sturdy tripod to mount the slider on if a desktop is not available. To do this you will need a pair of aluminium support arms, if you shop around you can get them from as little as £21 each and they work fine, helping to keep the setup compact. As without them with a single centre mount there is a danger that the slider may dip at end of its run. Support arms solve this problem.Best news of all I can pack their slider with arms attached into the supplied GVM slider case.I hope that if you go for this GVM 31" motorised slider you will be as happy as I am after a lot of false starts. A request to GVM please can you give each one a model number as it would make it easier to recommend the correct model.
