Medium VegTrug 1.8m PE Cover and Frame - Vegetable Protector (Trug Not Included)

Our strawberries were always being dogged by wasps, birds, slugs and snails when grown in pots on the patio. Currently in the VegTrug we have strawberries, spring onions, radishes, salad leaves, rocket, dwarf French beans and sweet peas (to be transplanted when grown a little) and they are all thriving in mid-May. Best of all, it's at waist height, which makes cutting a salad (which I did for lunch just now) a doddle. I'm using the optional screen to keep the pests off. It has tiny holes in it which let (some of) the rain through, but just like any container planting, it pays to keep it thoroughly watered. Another unforeseen benefit is that it's possible to have other small pots underneath, so less room is taken up on the patio.

Although I like this cover for my Vegtrug, the instructions for fitting could have been a bit clearer. It actually has to be fitted to the inside of the Trug, rather than outside as I was trying to do. So much easier to fit the frame base, then fill the Trug with compost, rather than the other way round!The frame is quite sturdy and can also be used without the cover as a support with/without canes for taller plants. Can't wait for next spring!

Put this together quickly and without any bad language (frustration). It seems to be doing the job but I'm just a little concerned about the cautious language in the instructions about how long it might last. Time will tell.

Somewhat tricky to put together so that all edges meet at the end, otherwise after 3 months it's fine.

It doesn't fit my trug very well - even though the trug is the standard measurement, and it is very hard to zip up.

Am delighted with the trug. Because I am disabled, this has given me back a little bit of gardening delight.
