Barcode scanning made easy !
This scanner is easy to setup, well made and tough, it should easily stand up to use in a shop or warehouse let alone at home. It works by returning the alphanumeric characters represented by the barcode (usually printed under it) as text, as though typed in. It can store multiple barcodes at once so you don't have to keep stopping to upload each one individually. It is rechargeable and wireless so you aren't tethered to a computer or till, etc. The enclosed booklet contains barcodes that you scan to set up the scanner's functions, making it a doddle. I selected this to review as I have a large DVD collection and thought that I could use it to catalogue them, however, scanners are not well enough supported amongst the freeware/open source community, and I found no software other than commercial ones that could input a batch of codes and then download the info to catalogue them. For books there is Calibre which is excellent. It would be very good for shops, Inventory/stock keeping, Book collections and maybe paid for Media Management software. There's nothing I can fault with it, if you need a barcode scanner then I can recommend this one.

Barcode scanner works well with linux in Virtual 2.4G (serial) mode
Decent build quality and performs well. No drivers needed for linux. In default mode it will just emulate a keyboard typing barcode numbers, newline, and return. I wanted to integrate this with custom software without keyboard emulation so two solutions come to mind. 1) Use libusb and detach driver and then manually read from usb. More painful. 2) Put the scanner in Virtual COM mode (serial). You will have to email them to get the barcode to scan to put scanner in this mode. You don't need to run their software driver on computer. The device will appear in /dev as ttyACMN (where N is integer). You will likely need to add a user to dialout group or manually set permissions on device via chmod. In my case I was integrating this into a clojure/java program and it was a breeze to start listening for barcode events in Virtual COM mode. Hopefully this info is useful for that one other person looking to do this. Happy to share code to anyone interested

Handheld wireless scanner
Received 2 of these and they were wonderful but after a few weeks one will not hold charge. 3 stars because of their size and lightweight. Hoping that the second one does not disappoint as well.

Excellent !
Excellent value and build quality.Really easy to install. Can either use trigger to scan barcode or as you pick the gun up it wakes it self and as soon as it sees a barcode it scans.Bonus of stand.Nice product and no issues with any type of barcodes so far.

Very responsive customer service
I'm a school librarian, and this was an affordable replacement for a much more expensive scanner that had stopped working reliably after ten years. I was disappointed when I received the scanner and discovered how loudly it beeps, and tried unsuccessfully to use the scanner functions to lower or mute the volume. When I contacted customer service, they immediately sent a replacement. The second scanner was slightly different from the first, and I had to charge it overnight before it worked successfully, but now I am all set and very pleased with this scanner.

Increased My Productivity!!
I am a manufacturer's rep and regularly inventory large quantities of fabric samples for my dealers. Each update is 1500-2000 fabrics. I have been trying a variety of wireless scanners in order to improve my productivity. This Symcode scanner is by far the fastest and most convenient. In addition, Karl who provides customer service by email is awesome. Very fast response to my special request to program to a continuous scan mode. I highly recommend this scanner and I am recommending to all of my colleagues.
