Fire Sense Commercial Patio Heater, Stainless Steel and Black Powder Coating

Set up was a little bit tricky but thanks to all the other reviews I was ready for that. And be sure to watch the suggested YouTube video on the reflecting hood if you haven't put one of those together before. Some of the parts are scattered around - you use bolts, nuts and flat washers from one bag, and locking washers from another. But if you just organize the parts you'll be fine. Job is a LOT easier with a nut driver, instead of wrenches, but you will be able to get by if you don't have them.One thing I didn't see mentioned in other reviews is that you'll want some sand as well, for the ballast container. Easier to order that online while getting the heater. I used pool sand (see amazon link below) but only found it in 50 lb bag - twice as much as I need. Luckily my brother also bought one of these. You could use water but that is less reliable - could leak or evaporate over time.The instructions say to get "silica sand" which is just sand made from quartz. I ordered this because my neighbor had it so I had seen it in person. I failed to notice when it arrived the name was different but the photo looked similar. It was not until we began taking it out of the package and it was banged up and dented and the quality was obviously not the same as the one I had seen in person and ordered.Initial contact to shipper as info inside box indicated do not contact Amazon. I was told it is identical to the one you ordered.. That was not true because when I googled the info on the box there was over a $200. difference in price an the quality was inferior..as a matter of fact the $150.00 heater they sell at Home Depot looked 300% better quality than the one shipped. Obvious bait and with..so watch out. . I contacted Amazon direct...owner of company finally contacted me and offered to refund but said Amazon would only allow a certain amount. Less than what had been paid. After a couple of weeks i finally received a 200.00 check as a refund on the difference. I needed the heater that evening or I would have just gone to the trouble to take it apart, repackage. This should not happen this day and time and now wonder how often it does happen.

Very happy with this heater. Uses a push button ignition (not battery powered) but I only had to strike it once to light on my first try after following the purge instructions. I wish the unit had a table top or was a little flatter to use as a table. The base can be filled with sand which I did and makes the unit feel very solid. The mast is very solid steel as well so I am happy with the quality. A similar heater at Lowes was $149 plus tax and seemed a cheaper quality so I'm happy about the savings.

The heater was easy to assemble. Takes about 45 min. Build it indoor and carry out to yard. All these heaters work best under some patio structure but does an OK job in an open area. If it is cold outside you will have to be close (within 5 feet to stay warm). I purchased the cover with it and I really recommend it. The burner is the heart of this device and you will want to keep it away from rain and dirt. Wheels make it easy to move around but if you have a multi level yard you will need to remove the LP tank before lifting between levels (easy to do). Looks great in black!.

I live in northern Illinois and bought this to use on a screened in porch with a 10 foot ceiling. I read many reviews before choosing this one. A friend and I put it together in about 70 minutes. The nuts/bolts came on a card with each type labeled and with the step number they were to be use with. ..very helpful! Directions were clear and overall, were easy to follow. We used it this Thanksgiving for the first time and it started right up. It was on for about 7.5 hours straight (on high) and was still on the original propane tank when we shut it off. It heated a 14 x 11 foot area comfortably on a rainy day with the temperature in the low 50's. I did make sure to measure the distance from the screens and vinyl siding to make sure nothing melted. This product is solidly built, looks and works great!

I purchased one of these for my wife in late April to use on our lakeside decks during cool evenings. It was such a hit with both her as well as my pregnant daughter-in-law that it was the perfect gift for said DIL's May birthday and now has primacy of place on her patio.While the heaters are of little use during the present heat wave, I have no doubt they will both be put to good use as soon as cooler weather returns and will extend the use and enjoyment of our patio and decks respectively.Readily positioned for comfortable use on their attached wheels, the heaters are easy to start, adjust and extinguish, and the distaff members of the family have no difficulties using them unaided. The unadorned black and SS finish lends them an unobtrusive presence and I find them relatively handsome for their ilk.

This heater was easy to put together. Heat distribution seems adequate. Ignition system works well. One negative, after using heater for several hours, it tends to smell like propane quite a bit. As if all the gas is not being burned properly. (After 3 hours of constant use.) However, in general it works well and the price is right.

OK product BUT, the chrome collar above the propane holder pits within a month or two when drops of water gets on it, resulting in a VERY unsightly messy look. No support from vendor.

Great unit and reasonably priced.. As a side note, the standard heat reflector cover which comes with the unit is assembled from 5 pieces and feels a bit flimsy but is perfectly adequate. After delivery and using the unit a few times we opted to purchase a larger one piece heavy duty heat reflector cover (Fire Sense 61437 1-Piece Heavy Duty Reflector) which you can buy on Amazon as well. The larger cover pushes heat out to a broader area and is worth the extra money. Even with the added cost of the separate reflector cover, this unit is still less expensive than other units and works wonderfully.
