It Build's Character: Character Options for 5th Edition

To be honest, I was expecting more from this book than what I got. While there is indeed many new options for the basic D&D character classes, many of them just didn't seem like they would fit in my game world and a couple of them felt a bit over powered. However, there were one or two that I probably will be adding into my campaign.As for the new class, the Psion, i'll be honest, I'm not much into psionics in my games and this new class offers little to change my mind on the matter.Several of the new races offered in the book, the Husk, the Ratling and the Aeloy have appeared in other books I've read and the rest are kind of silly in my opinion. Giant insects,constructs of glass and psionic energy and a race based on South American anteaters, hard to take seriously.In conclusion, there are enough new archtypes that you are bound to find a few to like. There is a bunch of new feats available and a beastiary of new plant based creatures for druids to transform into. I'm sure that many DMs will find this book useful but for me,it was a bit of a let down.

Many new races, and 3 archetypes per vanilla class, including an "evil" archetype for each. Anytime I get 3rd party or homebrew products I am apprehensive about balance, the additions in this book including the feats all seem fairly balanced. There's a couple feats that seem powerful, no where near sharpshooter, and then there's a couple things that seem under powered but overall a good balance. I look forward to getting to use some of this in regular play.

Love the homebrew ideas wish it was longer

I love the new races introduced as well as the Archtypes for PC's and the psion with the class abilities, all good gaming info for Home brew games. Also a must have for DMs.

New, well-balance character types and ideas for 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons. The book is laid out well and easy to reference. The new classes, particularly the Psion, are intriguing and integrated well with my in-progress D&D campaign. HIghly recommend!

As described

This book offers a player to look at the some monsters present in the 5th ed of D&Ds they can give you the stats on how the moster can be played as a character not just a monster. In the multiverse it seems anything is posible and you can be whatever you want. The only thing holding you back is a reason for using the choice you made. That said, anyone with a good enough imagination can do so or you can create a background from the Player's Handbook and Xanathar's Guide To Everything, as said above anything can be done.Do you want the choice of giving your roleplaying experience a different feel why not buy this book?One this I could say about this is that the illistrations are some what missmatched in quality, however they just serve as a purpose to give you an idea of what the characters should look like. If you want to look different to the image you don't have to follow the colours shown.

The class options are good and the races are fantastic. It's fairly well balanced with some flavorful and fun classes that fit in quite well. The ninja, samurai, and paladin expansions in particular are fantastic. The only issue I had was the psyonic class which is frankly terrible. It's a great book and well worth adding to your game but if you want a good psyonic class look elsewhere.

Over all not bad book
