theatrical version
Unlike most other people I think this, the theatrical version, is an excellent movie but I was not too impressed with this blu rayI had to play the movie at a much higher volume than every other blu ray I have because the sound was too low.. this was not a dialogue problem either, I actually like the mumbled dialogue in the Miami Vice, no the entire soundtrack is low and didn't seem to be a great mix to me. It appears to have been compressed or something like that probably to address the dialogue complaints, but it definitely does not have the same range as the movie I saw at the cinema or on DVD.. the music at the start and the shootouts were both not significantly louder than the rest of the mix so there are definitely problemsThe picture is okay but because of the way it has been shot, especially the gritty nighttime scenes, it does not look outstandingOverall I think I actually prefer my DVD of this one and hopefully there will be a better release in the future. Four stars mostly for the movie not the blu ray quality

Great remake of the original series.
Farrell and Fox are on form with a glossy and stylish action film that somehow manages to keep that 80's feel, yet still feel as though it is set currently. It is a beautifully shot film with loads of action and some magnificent sceanes that work really well with the chosen music.

Interesting mix of concert footage and film
It is very difficult to describe this as it is a very unusual concept: you start off in a Metallica concert and end up flitting between that and some strange, almost post-apocalyptic outside world, following one of the support staff as he tries to retrieve a bag from a vehicle that broke down on the way to the concert. Apparently, said bag is vitally important to the band...I think, if you like Metallica's music and fancy something a bit unusual, this is definitely worth watching.

Terrific!
Well this is going to be a love it or hate it type movie really.I've heard some people say it's more style over substance but I personally disagree.I thing the action and cinematography is definitely the star of the movie but Farrell and Foxx do solid work with the lead roles. Some of the scenes are truly breath taking and it really comes to life with the Blu-ray transfer. This ones most definitely worth a watch.

An extended music video or concert. Not a film!
Delivered within days and fully sealed and brand new as advertised. As stated elsewhere a good concert film, don't think it should be advertised as a film, no matter what anyone says. At most it is an extended music video. For me the storyline outside the concert added nothing to the music and would have been better without it

Not easy to follow :( 5/10
If it was marketed as a concert DVD it would have been the best concert ever but its not a very good feature film, the budget clearly went on the performance which was EPIC but then there is this confusing attempt at a story line in clips through the songs. We had to look online to understand the hidden messages and once we read them it made sense but it didn't correlate well through the film

Stick to the music.
As a long-standing Metallica fan I have no complaints about the music, but the story running through the "film" never worked for me, but it was an attempt to do something different which was commendable.

through the never
What a cool concept for a live concert dvd and an amazing gig too. Metallica does it again right up there with cunning stunts and the credits coda made my hair on my neck stand up, simply the best live concert I bought since floyds pulse
