Neon Nits Lice Egg Locator Hair Treatment Spray

Lifesaver for nit picking
I have waist-length thick, curly dark brunette hair. I got lice from kids at a camp I instructed this summer. When I told family and friends I had been in close contact with to check their heads because I had lice, they all freaked out that I was never going to be able to treat myself with all my hair or even get a lice comb through it.It took myself, my husband, and my mom many agonizing hours with hunched backs and necks and lots and lots of combing and picking, and we were all exhausted, exasperated, and feeling defeated. I wondered if everybody was right and I really WAS going to have to cut off a huge amount of hair to be able to manage the lice treatment easier. My mom found this and on a whim decided to give it a try. She started with my head forward, all of my hair pinned up except about a 2" wide section at the nape of my neck. She lifted and sprayed the hair in all directions near the root and then shouted almost immediately "OMG IT WORKS, THEY'RE HOT PINK!!" It took a good hour and a half, if not more, but she worked through my hair from the nape of the neck up to the crown, then either side over the ears, and eventually the front. She did the "troublesome" areas (nape and above ears) two times, with the second time requiring a second spray. My hair was a reddish magenta but the nits seemed to GLOW hot pink, making them really easy to spot. Otherwise this project had been very hard because with a ton of curly hair and nits that are the same color brown as my hair, we would have been picking (and possibly re-infesting) for ages.Once done, I washed my hair with a sulfate free shampoo, then did a tea tree oil wash to soothe my scalp from earlier toxic lice treatments and then I conditioned with an apple cider vinegar rinse. (The latter two was a bonus that lice apparently hate tea tree oil and ACV.) There was no remaining color left anywhere on my hair, scalp, ears, neck, or hands after my shampoo and shower. This product loses a star because the scent is really bad. It smells like that Halloween wash out spray dye and I'm not really sure what about this is different than that product, to be honest (other than the price). It also dyed my mom's (who was doing the nit picking) hands bright-bright pink for a few days, despite vigorous and frequent hand washing. In the battle against lice, this is just a really nice option to have to help with nit-picking. The only way to eradicate lice is to get every last nit, which are microscopic, hard to find, stick to your hair, and sometimes avoid even diligent and meticulous combing. A little hot pink glowing action is welcome to aid in this battle and I was really happy with how it did its advertised job.

not what I expected
It just dyed our kids hair pink. It didn't work like I expected it too. Skin was pink as well even with gloves.

never had the chance to use
I never had the chance to use this product . Turns out caking hair gel in your kids hair every day for a few weeks is the most effective cure for this problem

Neon nightmare: Neon nits lice egg locator hair treatment spray
Where to begin?! I received two huge gallons of cleaner from the company. I notified them that they shipped me the wrong product, they refunded my $16, but then requested I ship the wrong package back to them- guess what that cost $16. So I sat awaiting the correct product... Finally received the Neon Nits spray, and began reading immediately so I could treat my daughter that night (now that I'd been waiting over 2 weeks and picking, combing, and using every treatment for lice under the sun!) I followed the detailed and specific directions, do not spray too close to head, wash hands immediately, and still walked away with neon pink stained hands/finger tips. I only did the under half section of my daughter's head due to fear of staining after reading all the directions. Thank goodness I only did the under half and she has thick heavy hair; all of the under layers, ears, scalp, and neck remained stained neon pink for about 5 days (and she washes her hair everyday). Anywhere the hair touched turned pink and stayed that way after repeated washing. All of this would have been worth it, IF the neon spray actually highlighted the nits allowing for easy removal, but it didn't it just turned all of her hair pink. The only thing I did notice was as I combed out the nits they were pink in the comb, unfortunately due to the pink hair and pink nits it made nit picking a neon nightmare. I would not purchase this product again and will probably just throw the can away unless the kids want pink hair next Halloween.

Spot them quick
Our schools have had issues with lice and this makes them much more visible for parents to see so you don't miss any!

Stock up at Halloween!
I’m pretty sure the spray you buy at Halloween time to color your hair would work exactly the same.

Not that Great
It really didn't do that great. I think I could have used the hairspray color from Haloween and had just as much luck.
