Pretty 💜
I was waiting for the Hodderscape Vault edition and it turned out to be so pretty with the matte pink dust jacket and the pink foiled naked edges.

Mysterious
This tale follows Signa Farrow, a 19-year-old who was orphaned as a baby, as she deals with the ever-present shadow of Death (and yes, I mean actual Death incarnate). Signa has stayed with loads of different guardians over the years, with all but one interested solely in her wealth, and all of them encountering Death. After said string of guardians kicking the bucket, Signa is off to her last living relatives – the Hawthornes. The Hawthornes are an interesting bunch. With a patriarch who’s desperately trying to forget his wife’s death by practically drowning himself in liquor, a son who’s fighting tooth and nail to stop his dad from taking the business down with him, and a daughter who’s sick with the same illness that killed her mom, it’s a crime to call this family anything but interesting, really. Plus, if that weren’t intriguing enough, you’ve also got the fact that Lillian (the dead matriarch) is haunting the manor, and the fact that she’s telling Signa that she was actually poisoned.Oh, and did I mention that because of this intricate little murder mystery, Signa is going to ally herself with Death incarnate himself?

Mind-blowing
Loved the story, the atmosphere, writing style, fantasy with paranormal elements, good cliffhanger. It is my favourite read of 2023 so far. Will definitely be reading foxglove.

A gothic tale set in Regency era
I finished reading this wildly famous fantasy book, and I have so many thoughts to share, which we are going to do in a list of pros and cons style. Here is what I enjoyed reading:• The powers and limitations of Death's knowledge• The attempt to mix the Regency era in a Gothic story was unique• Even though this is part of a series, we got a complete story in this part and a link to interlink in book 2• The connection of Signa to death and her wild attempts to save people she just met but felt like family• The grey theme of every family member, where each of them had their own flaws.• The ghosts were amazing, in fact, the library one was so cute and helpful• That hung-over stage in between life and death, I liked talking about it.That being said, there were certainly some brow-raising moments too:• The book has a murder mystery plot too, and sometimes I think they forgot that there is a murder to be solved between the tea parties, balls and love-making• The obsession of Death over a newborn child felt a little creepy to me. The later love angle is still fine though• There were a few repetitions, that would have made sense if we were in book 2 or 3, but since we are in the same book, it felt unnecessary• The side characters were really numbOverall I think it was good for 1 time read & the cover is beautiful

ah, I wont lie! More than it being the Instagram sensation, the book cover drew me! Can you just look at it? its enchanting, gothic, quite eerie and so so beautiful!!! So pretty and gorgeous! Someday I will own a paperback!! Coming to the story, that didn't at all disappoint! The name, the cover is quite apt for the story! It was so so good. I loved Sigma and Death. I loved the mystery. The author absolutely kept me glued in till the end!

A spooky, atmospheric and intriguing fantasy romantic thriller with Death as the main character!
I absolutely adore Gothic Romance books and so when I heard about this book I jumped to read it. And barring a few complains, overall I enjoyed this story! The world building is spell binding and immersive. I felt part of the story and sat engaged throughout. The story loses its pace in the middle and there are repetitions yet it is still engrossing. The mystery is also good and kept me intrigued. The daring characterisation of Death and its connection with Signa is a brave move by the author. And I applaud her. It is like a guilty pleasure and I enjoyed it though it may not go down well with many readers. Then the fact that Signa not once questions why and who killed her mother is most surprising and a glaring lapse in this story. I also felt that though this is a YA book it has sufficient adult scenarios to make it suitable only for readers above the age of eighteen yearsOverall I enjoyed this book and was sufficiently spooked, entertained and intrigued. Now I am eager to read the sequel.

Perfect Spooky Season Read!
I started the month with frankenstein as a spooky story, and I wanted to continue with that gothic vibe, so I picked up Belladonna, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I just found out that it's part of a trilogy, so i'm really excited. I love a good mystery, and I think the author did a great job with foreshadowing and leaving clues throughout. I am the type of person that really enjoys when I can figure it out in a whodunnit book. I loved having my suspicions confirmed, but I also enjoyed the uncertainties right up to the reveal. Perfect October read!

A great cast of characters with an intriguing mystery/romance plot.
I loved this so much! The plot was very intriguing and kept me guessing right until the end. I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery elements to this story alongside the romance. A great cast of characters too which made the story even more readable. Can't wait to continue on with the series.

So schön
Einfach schön. Dieses Buch hat mich persönlich sehr berührt. Wie eine Frau vom Tod verfolgt wird und sich ihm stellt, um dann festzustellen, dass der Tod einsam ist.Toll geschrieben. Eine absolute Leseempfehlung:)
