🌞 Power Up Your Solar Game!
The Sunthysis 50A MPPT Solar Charge Controller is a cutting-edge device designed for optimal solar energy management. With a maximum input of 100V and output capabilities of 650W/1300W, it features an LCD display for real-time monitoring and Bluetooth connectivity for app-based control. This controller supports various battery types, ensuring intelligent charging and comprehensive system protection.

Perfect for a backup emergency power system
Controller allows 12 or 24 volt battery bank setup and 5 - 100 watt panels of pv input. The Bluetooth setup was pretty simple and allows for monitoring of pv input, power output and temperature warnings. It runs well in parallel with other charge controllers including my wind generator. This controller is a very good, low-cost alternative for smaller backup emergency power systems. The only other feature I would have liked is a backlit display.

Sunthysis 20A MPPT controllerIn spite of enthusiastic reviews on YouTube, I've found that this controller has a number of failings - with one of them being fatal.First, the Bluetooth range is pathetic. My solar equipment installation is in the basement and I would like to be able to monitor it from the main level - basically one level up and 20 feet horizontally from the rack the Sunthysis is installed on. That distance is just out of reliable BT range. What do I mean by "reliable"?I mean that starting a configuration change and losing BT during that change should NOT put the controller in STUPID mode - as in defining the battery type as LiFePO4 and the voltage as 12 volts in "Customize" and EVERYTHING ELSE DEFAULTS TO 48 VOLTS - which the controller proceeded to use. Fortunately, the "solar power" was from a voltage and current limited power supply set to emulate a 30 watt solar panel. The input voltage to the LiFePO4 battery was over 19 volts but its BMS protected it - otherwise, this could have been fatal for that battery. This is not a product I can trust, regardless of what a "good buy" some people thought it was at just under $40US.Thanks, but no thanks. I prefer to have a device I can easily and reliably program from its front panel or a convenient computer. This one's front panel is NOT user-friendly. I'll continue to use the slightly more expensive EPEver controllers - the computer software is a free download, the USB to RS485 dongle is about $1US and the battery in my laptop lasts for hours. My years as a software developer are probably showing - the software or firmware isn't good unless it is ALWAYS reliable.I've been watching the "Power Generated" field and - although it's been charging at over 2 amps for more than an hour - I still have all zeroes.Do the fields only update at the end of the day? Does it wait for midnight or just XX hours after dark? What if it's being powered by a DC power supply that never goes away? Do those fields never update?Does the Sunthysis keep date and time? It has no obvious way of setting or showing it.I can turn the load OFF from the BT app but can NOT turn it back ON. Defect? Odd choice by the designer?NOT recommended.

For the money it's a nice unit. Some minor cons.
The unit works as advertised, and has lots of features of a more expensive unit. I.e. it has built in Bluetooth, app control, 2 USB ports, works with lead acid, gel, AGM, LiPo and LifePo batteries. So it's a win!! well sort of, the app is good for configuration of battery charge voltage and cut offs, but it's pretty basic and sort of worthless otherwise. (I.e. you can remotely shut off your load via the app, but turning it on you have to physically hit the button on the controller) And to be honest the term "remotely" is a bit of a stretch as the Bluetooth range is maybe about 10-15 feet. The manual is tiny, but it's a fairly basic controller and should work well for it's intended use of powering solar lights, and a security camera in a remote shed. Adding a better internal Bluetooth antenna, and making the app a bit more useful would make this a go-to for small installs.

Does the job.
It's capable of higher VOC panel power than others of equivalent size and price.

True MPPT with some glitches
Bought it to test with a 100W panel and a 3-cell Li-Ion battery. It can maximize the panel output. However, the output would drop to 0 and then back up from time to time.

Do not buy if easily frustrated
This is the most god awful controller I have ever wasted money on. Bluetooth is a joke, it may connect once but don't bet it will happen again. It won't. Hands down the worse menu system ever created, forget programming off the unit. Basically it's complete garbage which is where this thing is destined to end up. I wasted my money and time, hope you do not.

Solar controller works OK, Bluetooth interface not so much
Installed the unit and seems to work well as a solar controller, Bluetooth module installs fine, app picks up the module but that is all. Unable to get the app working at all. Even tied the older version but had the same result. I have reached out several time in the last 2 months to the published support contact. No response at all so suspect that this app and support are no more. This is disappointing as the Bluetooth monitoring was a significant factor for selecting this unit.
