Albers was the living artist who most influenced artist Jacob Lawrence 1917-2000
Josef Albers was the artist-teacher who had the greatest influence on Jacob Lawrence after Lawrence left New York to begin his own teaching career at Black Mountain College. I learned this fact as a student of Jacob Lawrence when I was a graduate student. Around 1968 in interview with Carroll Greene, Jacob Lawrence named Josef Albers as providing him the greatest influence (amongst the better known white artists still living). You can access this same interview by internet search and read for yourself. What a glorious book of book design this book of Albers is! Tour de force extraordinaire!Seeing the photography of ancient Mexico provides new insight to those of us not always so fond of Albers. Whether you love Albers a lot or only just like him a bit, this book will be a great addition to your library.

Great book
Beautiful book. Mexico, another aspect of Albers muses. Black and white and color prints but interesting, approachable academic writing. It's not just a coffee table book. Recommend for Albers fans.

Worth It
Really a wonderful book; beautifully illustrated and printed and cloth binding. One the best made art books I’ve seen in a while.

More beautiful on the outside than inside
The images in this book are disappointingly small - if you’re looking for large photos of Albers’ work, this book isn’t for you. If you’re looking for a gorgeous coffee table book to brighten up your shelves, then this is great.

Gorgeous and enlightening
This book is gorgeous and enlightening. It reveals the debt Albers owes to pre-Columbian art and architecture as well as the deep and evolving relationship of the artist to that work. What a treat to spend a Sunday afternoon lost in this book.

This is the most beautiful book inside and out since East of the Mississippi
This is the most beautiful book inside and out since East of the Mississippi. The influence on Josef Albers and Anni Albers is revealed. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the arts and photography, also the Mexican connection.

Vale la pena por la información
El diseño interior del libro es muy al estilo editorial se los 70-80. Lo que vale la pena es la información documental que tiene el libro porque estéticamente es feo
