My favorite peeler of the three I purchased!!
I've had an Oxo (or 2!) for years, but it finally became clear it was time to replace them before either my girls or I hurt ourselves using dull peelers.I bought this peeler and two others. I'm writing this review for all three peelers, though the amount of stars is correct for the actual description above. Messermeister Pro Touch Fine Edge Swivel Peeler, Black - 5 starsThis is my favorite peeler out of my four (including my old dull Oxo). I was EASILY able to peel just the zest (!) from a navel orange!!! No pith whatsoever!!Dunno what else there is to say about it that could beat that! :D The handle is about a half inch longer than the Firm Grip. Because of the shape up top (flares out), I'd still like at least another half inch. The grip isn't quite as comfortable as the Firm Grip. Yes, it's silicone, but it doesn't seem quite as "grip-y" or the silicone is thinner. Certainly the barrel itself is thinner than the Firm Grip. Grip-wise, the Firm Grip wins. BUT ... the Messermeister's peel is NOT serrated, and is smooth as butter because it's SO sharp! So, in my book, that wins! (even with my daily painful arthritis)The blade itself is 1-7/8 inch. It comes with a plastic cover with a small tab to protect yourself from getting cut while it's in your drawer. OXO SoftWorks Swivel Peeler - 3 starsThis is the newer version of my old Oxo. The handle is about 1/2 inch longer, and it's shaped to give it a more comfortable grip. Of the three reviewed here, it has the longest handle by about an inch. The blade itself is substantially longer than all the others (including the old Oxo). It's 2-2/8 inches, and comes with a protective cover. I'm nervous about taking the cover on and off, but assume it would become easier with use.It gave the worst peel out of those reviewed here. It took off the most peel. It was the dullest of these three. I didn't compare it to my older Oxo, but I'd assume it was sharper. The Cutting Edge, Firm Grip, Serrated Peeler (Green) - 4 starsI got the red version of this peeler. Don't know why I can't get to a link for it, but ..First, I have to say that this is the cheapest of the three peelers I bought by $3.This is the 2nd sharpest peeler of the 3 I bought. I think it's the serration that actually makes it feel less sharp - it catches at whatever you're peeling. I peeled -attempted to zest- a navel orange. While it peeled it with relative ease, it also took a fair amount of pith with the peel and I couldn't keep it from doing that (at least, without experience).I don't particularly like this peeler, but I think that's mostly my inexperience with a serrated peeler. I can't imagine the need for the serration (is that even a word?!). It feels a bit lethal to me because it's incredibly sharp and it feels as if the serrated edges get caught and that feels dangerous. BUT, if you like a serrated peeler, then I highly recommend this one! It's certainly sharp and the handle feels good in my hand. The handle is silicone with grips on all four sides (it's slightly squarish). What I don't like about the handle is I have smallish to average sized woman's hands and the handle feels a bit short in my hand. Another half inch to an inch of length would make it feel more comfortable. The blade is 1-7/8 inch. It doesn't come with a blade cover.

Super sharp, high quality peeler that we use frequently
This little tool has good hand-feel, and it works really well. It's super sharp and does it's job to perfection. I want to purchase another for myself, and for my family as they like to cook and appreciate good quality kitchen tools.

I could shave my legs with this thing.
Kept reading the glowing reviews. Broke down and bought 2. One for my daughter, one for me. I'm the old fashioned metal hand held peeler kinda gal.Well lord almighty. It's so sharp I could shave my legs with it. Thank goodness it comes with a small plastic protector. You'd slice your finger open digging for it in a drawer. Now the protector is a bit tight/hard to get off. And I'm always thinking I'm going to 'break off' the slicing part when I try to take it off. But so far so good. Snapping it back on is a cinch so I don't know why it's so hard to get off?In any event, I have only peeled a potato so far. But I can tell by the 'peel' just how efficient and sharp this thing is. The peeling is 'different' from the peeling off the old fashioned one. It's thinner, cleaner. And it's like a hot knife through butter.I personally didn't have any problems with the shavings/peeling flying in the air or all over my hand. The little tip on the end did a fine job of gouging out the 'eyes'. I was worried about this because it's plastic and not metal, but it worked as desired. You just have to be a little more precise in digging out eyes or things because the plastic has a tendency not to 'grab' as well as the metal. It seems to want to slide a bit because of the 'juice' on the vegetable. But still a well made piece.I just can't believe how super sharp this thing is!! Highly recommend.UPDATE: I have now 'peeled' the thick stalks of fresh broccoli. You have to press down a BIT to get the "nubs" off the stalk. Because...it shaves/peels off such a thin layer of whatever you're peeling. Which is actually a better thing. It doesn't gouge out a hunk of "insides" along with the peeling. It leaves you with more of the inside of the vegetable. So pressing down a millimeter more is no big thing. Still love it!2nd UPDATE: Have now also peeled raw sweet potato's and numerous other vegetables. Sliced off the sweet potato skin like a hot knife through butter. Again, it didn't gouge out some of the inner potato along with the peeling. Just sliced off the thinnest outer layer. And the protector is now slipping off the peeler much easier than at first. I guess the plastic had to 'loosen' up a bit. Great product.

Good value - - Crazy sharp!!
These have a good ergonomic grip and the rubber material makes it easy to hold and it adds to the safety aspect. These are so sharp!! I'm used to poorer quality ones and managed to slice the top of my finger on my first use--totally my fault, lol.

Great peeler
This is the best peeler ever! Always try and get the serrated one, since it's easier to peel with it

Simply the best!
A fantastic and frustration free little gadget. Even peels tomato skins! The best peeler I have ever owned. Best to wash by hand and don't put in dishwasher as blades could dull. Will last years if you care for it in this way. I like it so much, i have bought some as stocking stuffers!
