Review of Engine Timing Locking Tool Set Fiat 500/ Punto Evo/Panda/ 1.1 1.2 1.4 Litre 8v.A small set of specialist tools in it’s own plastic case for working on Fiat engines as per description, the most frequent of repairs being the fitting of a new cambelt, as with many engines these tools essential for correct timing procedures.This particular small collection is not a complete set of timing tools as provided by the manufacturer but adequate for the task of cambelt replacement, the large black rounded tool and three hex bolts for crankshaft positioning, the solid silver bar with holes either end the camshaft locking tool and the smaller pinned tool is for holding and adjusting the cambelt tensioner.Obviously a lot of other general tools are required for cambelt replacement but these specialist tools fairly essential, unfortunately for DIY enthusiasts and professionals alike many different types of specialist tools are required for irregular and essential service tasks, this due to the huge assortment of different engines fitted to vehicles.This another set of specialist tools that are a welcome addition to my collection, these seem well made and are precise fitting for the task they are made for, compared to others the cost of this set will be easily covered by one single cambelt replacement.

All the pieces needed to lock the crank and camshaft timing on the 1.2 punto engine where there, I slipped the belt on easily, tightened up the tensioner with the included tensioner wrench, finished the rebuild and the engine purrs again. The crank lock comes with 3 bolts in the kit so that you don't have to damage the original ones or mix them up. Cam lock slides in beautifully and is held down by 2 bolts from the rocker cover. The tension wrench has to pins on which turn the tensioner and are the perfect length, the handle may seem short but there isn't much effort needed and it's size allows you to see when the tensioner marks are aligned.All made of steel and supplied in a moulded case so you can check that you've removed everything before you try and start the engine up.

Having a set of targeted tools for a special job such as this timing belt ( and or water pump ) changing and resetting is made much more straightforward. The case is a simple basic one and has places for each of the tool kit parts, spanner, bolts and restraint. It is a job I don't have done often but having these to hand for friends and family (all fiat fans) is a great plan.

I used to work on Panda's a lot and this would have been very handy back then! For now its in the tool chest waiting for one to turn up at the workshop....

Timing Belt tool kit for the Fiat range. This will fit and work on a selection of models from the 500 to the panda. The manufacturer has listed the whole range for ease on looking before ordering. This is set at a very decent price for what you get and be it working on your personal car and wanting to do the job yourself or potentially being an actual mechanic which has had a job come in! We tested this on a FIAT 500 And it was easy to work with and fully compatible. Comes with everything you need and then a neat strong storage case for between use! Can definitely be used multiple times which is ace :) set at a good price for what you get and I would overalll recommend.
