I am very impressed with this tool set. If you are doing any type of solar wiring with MC4 connectors and solar wire, this is the set you should get. The crimper does very strong, very neat crimps. It is the ratcheting type, so each crimp is the same and perfect (if you use the correct die notch). The wire strippers are awesome, and make stripping a 10 AWG solar wire very quick and easy and perfect. The cable cutter is decent, but I have a better one I use so this will be backup. The MC4 tools work perfectly. Overall I am happy I got this set, no complaints at all.

Needed to build some extension cables for my solar set up and decided to buy a kit to make the crimps and installation of the connectors painless.Overall this is a well made kit and works extremely well, I only lost one contact terminal out of 8 crimps and that was my first crimp. The crimper and cable cutter work really well, the wire stripper is “ok” and somewhat works for larger 6 mm cable, for 4 mm cable the stripper worked well. The storage box is “ok” as well but a little weird since you need the wire stripper to be tensioned to fit into the box, it slips out and knocks other things out of their storage cubby if you jolt the storage box.Overall a nice set of dedicated tools that allow you to make repairs and new cables for your solar system at a reasonable price. Saved me money and time on wasting connectors by having a bad crimp.

I used this set of crimping tools while installing solar panels on my motor home. I would have preferred the crimper without the rest of the stuff as I already have wire cutters, wire strippers and the plastic fastening wrenches. Since there were no instructions included, I suggest you watch a few YouTube videos on how to fasten MC4 connectors. I was using 10 AWG (6 mm2) copper solar wire. The cutters that came with the kit are sharp and work well. The strippers were ok, as long as you only remove 1/2 to 5/8" (12 to15mm) of insulation or less which is more than you need. I would practice with the strippers first as the first time I clipped a few strands and had to repeat the process by more carefully positioning the wire in the stripper. I use double open barrel crimpers a lot which are similar. These icrimpers only crimp to the bare wire and are fairly easy to position. I squeezed the U shaped part of the fastener a bit before inserting into the crimper. I did not use the positioning gadget as I could not figure out how it works (no instructions) and it was pretty obvious to me how to position the wire and fastener in the crimper. When you squeeze the crimper handles, they rachet down and automatically release when done. Tightening the two plastic parts of the connecter was easy with the supplied plastic wrenches but one side of mine had a hexagonal shape that would not fit the wrench so I used pliers for that side. All in all this tool kit worked well enough and made good solid crimps.

While duplicating tools is not my preference, this kit is great for grab and go. I try to stay well organized with my tools and knowing where they are is generally easy to pull stuff together for a project, but then sometimes you just want to grab and go, and this is a great bundle for that purpose. If you're old school, your other tools you invested in decades ago are likely better quality, but these are nothing to sneeze at, just plan on using them for the task intended.

These crimpers are very good. For a crimping tool it's all about the leverage of the handle and the quality of the dies making the crimp. The tool is well built, sturdy and functions with ease. When closing and opening the tool there are no grinding spots or parts rubbing. The portion where the dies are mounted are even, providing the dies to make good parallel contact. The dies themselves are well ground with clear edges, not rounded or poorly machined. The engagement is even and there are no visible gaps when the dies are mated together. In my opinion these crimpers will last for years of daily service. I had a question for IWISS and they responded promptly with a clear answer. So I give their customer service a plus. As to the last category in the review called "Weatherproof" I gave them a 5 just because that category makes no sense with this product and I did not want to reduce the overall rating. These are as weatherproof as any hand tool. If you use them out in the rain or while you are submerged, they will get wet. Being made of metal, they will corrode if not taken care of. Under normal usage a light oiling of the moving parts (with a light machine oil) will be fine every so often. Will I need to buy these again? I don't need a second set so this crimping tool frame will last for many years. The dies may wear but since the metal of the connectors are softer, I doubt it. I certainly do recommend these. As a solar professional, these crimpers are a steal. A professional pair can run you $400 or more... these work great, and you can't beat the price. They seem durable enough and, they definately get the job done. Easy to work with. Works well if you know what you're doing.

I'm building a 10KW solar array and picked u this tool kit for the MC4 connectors. For the money, I'm impressed with how well it works. With a little care it crimps perfectly and repeatably, the cable stripper works fine as does the wire cutter, I was a bit nervous buying the cheaper tool but it's worked out great.
