Great core, speed and power management, super fast
Ui9 285K, GB Z890 AE WiFi 7 MB, temporarily using integrated Intel graphics. After many builds, 30+ years, due to unavailability of the competitors top end CPU I decided on seeing what Intel had to offer. This was my first Intel CPU build and WOW, super efficient, impressive clock and core management. I like Intel's approach to splitting cores between efficiency and performance, perfect for a workstation, occasional gaming where CPU demand can vary substantially. Simple WS tasks, CPU is a 0-1% load, 1 GHz, many cores are parked or have zero load, CPU temp ~30-32C , speed bumps up in speed momentarily during app launch but doesn't stay there for long. Looking forward to linking this up with a nice GPU someday, that's if people would stop buying to scalp GPUs and they become available again.

Intel CPU chip...
Got this for my new computer - home built & have been building my own for about 35 years now. Very fast & runs quite cool. No problemo...

Highly Recommended for Creator/ Workstation Gurus Who Need A High Performance CPU
Attention Creators/ Workstation users: I recommend this processor over the Intel's I9 family for workstations. I needed a creator/ workstation professional grade computer and this processor fit the bill when deciding which one to use. Some of the negative comments on this process usually came from hardcore gamers. Us creator/ workstation gurus are not that fickle. The processing power is top tier as should be when overclocking. The Asus ProArt motherboard purchased along with was an excellent match. This PC build benchmarked at around 99th percentile which is top of the line in my book. The makes the most power pc I have built to date.Read the reviews you see about this carefully, but take them with a grain of salt. If this processor meets or exceeds your needs, then that's all that matters. I could care less about which audience Intel's pitch line was intended for.So, with that said, ignore the BS on here, online and especially yt, and purchase this processor with a clear conscience knowing this will be class A performer.

The newest generation of Intel-designed CPUs, built by TSMC using their leading edge N3 node
Not sure what to say.... Intel Core Ultra 9 285K (Arrow Lake family) is the newest Intel processor, released at the end of October 2024. According to Wikipedia, it uses a a variety of new production and packaging technologies, and for this reason it no longer follows the standard Intel generations and numbering of the type i5, i7, i9. Reportedly, it consists of at least 4 chips, all build by TSMC (the CPU itself is built using TSCM's cutting edge N3B technology, which Intel cannot built itself so far, while Intel does the last step, packaging of all chips on an interposer. Intel sees this technology as a blueprint for future generations of CPUs, and the new socket, LGA1851, is a new development which Intel, according to the trade publications, plans to use for several future generations. Hence, in terms of upgradability of CPU on an existing motherboard, it seems to be the best bet across Intel CPUs. High performance and relatively low power are main features of this CPU. This particular package includes on CPU itself, but no thermal paste and of course no cooler. Very easy to drop into the socket. Excellent speed. Intel's design, TSMC's leading edge manufacturing.

Extremely Strong Productivity Processor
I am a programmer who works with compiled programming languages in a large codebase all day long, and I bought this processor after seeing it at or near the top of many compiler benchmarks. Indeed, this processor cuts through my work like a knife through hot butter, and it is a joy to watch it speed through tasks! And unlike previous generations of Intel processors, it is quite easy to keep it cool even with cheap air coolers. Despite minor overclocking, the processor stays 10-20 °C away from thermal throttling even under hours of the most intense stress tests (like Cinebench). Furthermore, the processor has been quite stable for me, as I have not encountered any crashes.Keep in mind that many of the mixed/negative reviews are focused on gaming, where the gaming performance for the price is quite disappointing. If Intel manages to iron out all of the major issues (a very big if), this processor will exhibit gaming performance similar to an i9-14900K while being significantly-more power efficient. Accordingly, this could be a strong mixed gaming/productivity processor in the future, but in the meantime, I would not buy this processor if having top-tier gaming performance is important to you. For productivity-focused users like me, however, I would highly recommend this processor for many productivity tasks, where it is often the fastest consumer-grade processor ever made.

Horrible Latency
This CPU while performs on paper better for multitasking suffers from horrible latency...

285k 5.6 GHz P-core ALL, 5.0 GHz E-core ALL.
Very fast CPU once paired with high-end ram and overclocked. By default not all that revolutionary!5.6p, 5.0e, D2D 40, NGU 35, Ring 4.2 GHz, DDR 8000.Memory bandwidth: 128 GB/s 48GBBeats even the 7950 and 14900K in some workloads, but any CPU in the last gen with faster clockspeed will be better for games.... this is faster than the Raptor Lake for CPU based rendering etc.It can OC even more than I have set, but heat is becoming a issue for my AIO at such high loads and benchmarks. It only runs hot when benchmarking or stress testing, under normal gaming it doesn't sweat at all, under idle-like temps. Crazy.

Performs well. I'm pleased with the stability.
I was hesitant to purchase this based on various reviews. I use it for gaming/video work - so it gets pushed hard. Intel recently released some micro code for it which was installed via a bios update to the motherboard. So far, it is rock solid and stable. And while it might not be the fastest gaming chip when compared to AMD..it does everything else substantially better based on my real-world use experience. So, I'm pleased with this purchase. Note - this is the unlocked version which can be overclocked. I have not tried that - only used it at factory default clock speeds.
