Silverline 718103 HSS Titanium Coated Drill Bit 12 mm

I used the 12mm drill bit for my project. It worked fine. At the time of the order, I didn’t realize it was coming from Great Britain . It took forever to get here. Had I known that, I would have picked up a drill bit at my local machine supply store.

It works fine on stainless, titanium, and aluminium. Just remember to use cutting oil and not rush the bit. Take your time and all will be fine.

Bought for one specific job requiring a 12mm hole to be cut into thin steel. I normally drill a smaller hole and build up to the size I need especially in thin steel as the drill bit has a tendancy to 'screw' into the steel if not held straight resulting in an uneven hole. This drill bit is no exception to this effect but that is normal so this effect if seen should not cause any doubt that this drill bit is not suitable for purpose.Very happy with this item, reasonable price and did all I wished of it.I must add here that this drill bit has a parallel shank and may not fit all electric drill chucks-I had a second drill with a larger chuck (most easily accept up to 10mm so check before buying). If in doubt it may be best to get a 'universal' 12mm drill bit which has a shank designed to fit against the 3 prongs used in the most common drill chucks.Remember bigger drills will need more watts from the drill to give a good hole cut.

Does what is says on the packet. Bought for a specific project.

I found that after drilling two holes into 10mm thick aluminium the "titanium" coating was gone, also I had to reduce drill speed to allow the bit to clear the swarf otherwise it jammed the hole.
