Salaam Namaste (2005), is cute and quirky Hindi romantic comedy, directed by Siddharth Anand, starring Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. Set in Melbourne, the movie depicts the story of a modern Indian couple and their live-in relationship. With a couple of pleasant, catchy numbers and a fair share of emotions, this movie was made to be a consummate entertainer.The story revolves around Nick, an architect turned chef, who meets Ambar, an aspiring surgeon cum R.J and tells of how sparks fly as soon as they meet. Nick, who was supposed to be interviewed by Ambar, misses the interview twice because he oversleeps. Furious, Ambar insults Nick on air. Now a twist of fate finds Nick catering at Ambar's friend's wedding, where Ron, Nick's best friend, falls in love with Cathy, Ambar's best friend. Unaware of each other's identity, Nick and Ambar discover that they too have made some kind of connection.The next day, Ron and Cathy tie the knot and Nick and Ambar discover each other's true identity. Now Nick goes on air with Ambar, during which he reveals that he is in love with her. He then convinces her to move in with him, during which they fall in love. Two months later, Ambar discovers that she is pregnant. On confronting Nick, he suggests that they drop the child and carry on with their lives. She refuses and they break up. Six months later, they are still doubting the genuinity of their relationship and their love for each other, when they find that certain changes are headed their way sooner than they expected.Salaam Namaste was released in 2005 by Yashraj Studios in DVD format with a U rating. The movie has a runtime of 152 minutes.
