Perfectly Challenging Game
Arrived on time and as described.Bottom Line: Definitely recommend! Definitely gift-able.-Durable, colourful, no reading necessary -just follow the set up card and try to get the red car out of the parking lot by sliding, not lifting, all the cars so a free path can be made for the red car.-Solo play (but we have also made it into a group effort when needed)-Small, compact, and easily stored and played with in a small space.-Quick to learn, can take a few minutes to quite some time depending on which level you are playing.-Depending on the person, pretty much anyone who enjoys a puzzle will like this game. (I just bought it for a 7 year old's birthday who has addicted to *my* set for the last two years.)As a kid my dad bought this for us kids because he liked puzzles... that was back in the early 70s when he actually bought it during his time serving in Okinawa, Japan. We loved it immediately as each round the challenges get more difficult.I still, at age 63, have the original '70s game at my house and my grandkids also enjoy playing it when they come over... so much so that when our little 6 year old comes over it is the first game she reaches to play. Part of it is she can play solo and take her time figuring out how to get the red car out, also I think she just likes the tiny cars and trucks and how they make the colourful 'parking lot' into a puzzle she can solve!

This is No Old-Fashioned Slide Puzzle
I teach 7th and 8th grade, and am always on the lookout for interesting logic puzzle games for my students to try if they finish work early or if we have some free time, or at homeroom or lunch. Rush Hour fits the bill perfectly. This game has been highly-regarded by educational companies because it teaches kids spatial reasoning, and I can see why. I generally have to think several steps ahead, visualizing "to move the orange car down, I have to move the grey car to the right, but to do that I have to move the blue car up," etc. I'll have to hold all those maneuvers in my head before I can trace back to the one move that I actually CAN currently make. The sense of accomplishment when you finally solve a puzzle feels great.Even the medium puzzles are relatively challenging, taking me five to ten minutes or more of moving and shifting pieces to figure out how to solve the puzzle. The Hard and Expert puzzles, however, are no joke. Some are mind-benders, guaranteed to be good puzzles for an evening at home and absolutely a brilliant challenge for even the most astute student minds. With 40 puzzle cards in the box, it will take a while before you finish, and even once you do, good luck trying to remember how you solved that puzzle two weeks ago! It is a challenge all over again. This is no old-fashioned slide-puzzle with the one piece missing and you have to try to complete the picture. It takes a relatively simple concept (slide the red car on its single track out the space on the right side of the board) and challenges you in a way that can drive you loopy with curiosity. Since each car is on a single track and can slide either horizontally or vertically, it provides you a straightforward framework for manipulating the pieces, if only you can figure out the right order...

Terrific game for young and old
We have owned this game for almost 20 years. We first got it when our kids were in elementary school and recently purchased it again as a gift for our 5 year old niece. It is challenging at a variety of levels. What is great is it can be played solitarily or with help from multiple people. The cards increase in level of complication which makes it fun and interesting to see how you progress through the puzzles. An all time favorite puzzler. Item came quickly and in great condition. Highly recommend Rush Hour for all ages.

Good practice for Caribbean traffic
The media could not be loaded. If you're looking for a challenging yet low-tech family game, look no further.Believe it or not, this one doesn't plug in anywhere, needs no batteries, has no tangles of wire to connect, makes no noise, and best of all, doesn't have hundreds of expensive add-ons, memory cards and other related stuff that you have to buy.It takes up almost no space, comes with its own little carrier bag, and provides hours of educational fun for all ages. You can take this on a planeYou can take this on a trainYou can take this here or thereYou can take this ANYWHEREWhat you get:1. A small plastic game board with a handy storage drawer and a slot for the game card in play2. A bunch of colored plastic cars and trucks3. A deck of game cards with clearly illustrated traffic jam situations for different skill levels4. A drawstring cloth carrier bagWhat you do:1. Start with the Beginner cards and work your way up to the Advanced level2. Set up the cars on the board as indicated on the card3. Try to get the little red car to the only exit by driving forward and reversing the vehicles on the board until the way is clear4. Try not to tear your hair out or use bad language at the vehicles blocking you5. Try not to peek at the answers on the back of the cardWhen you're through with this one, there are four additional game sets at ridiculously affordable prices. Each one gives you one more vehicle and another set of game cards.Believe me, when you graduate from this traffic school you'll be able to drive in the Caribbean without any problems.Amanda Richards, December 28, 2008
