Very nice loupe
First things first. This loupe is expensive for what you get. It is very small & seems pretty sturdy. If you put it in your pocket, you probably wouldn't even know it's there. The size of the lens itself is comparable to a Certs breath freshener or the diameter of a contact lens. It comes with no carrying case, just what the picture shows. There is a built in hole if you wanted to attach a lanyard to it. Once again, this loupe is expensive, even to the point of being overpriced (in my opinion). That being said however, the glass and the optics are outstanding. What else would you expect from Germany? Looking through this loupe is really cool. I bought it so that I could examine record player styli and this really helps.Could I have gotten more magnification for less money? Probably. But this is a very clean 10x loupe and it is nice to have very high quality tools in you toolchest, even if they are pricey.PS- I gave this loupe a 5-star rating because it deserves it. I really wanted to give a rating of 3 or 4 stars because of the high price I paid for this item, but the price of an item isn't a direct reflection of an items value.PPS- The user manual says "Made in Belarus"

Excellent 10x loupe
This Zeiss 10x loupe is a great tool. It is a tiny optics with lens diameter of 13mm (0.5 inch). I attached a small nylon clip through its hinge hole to my keychain (see photo).Optics is excellent: no observable chromatic aberration nor distorting from center to edge. Its optical coatings has reduced most glare and enhanced contrast. I compared Zeiss with Belomo and Nikon 10x loupes, both are also decent optics.Belomo has largest lens size of 20 mm, great color, and lens with optical coating. Most of the time it is hard to tell the images from Zeiss. But when it comes to very small objects like pollens, the Zeiss stands out for its better contrast.Nikon has the same lens size as Zeiss. Optically it’s on par with Zeiss with good color accuracy and sharpness. However, Nikon loupe doesn’t have optical coatings as a result it is prone to have glare. In most case when placing loupe in front of eye, you will not notice the glare. But if there’s background light or in very bright illuminated area, the reflections/ glare is very noticeable sometimes annoying. Really wish Nikon has coated lens since their loupe already has excellent lens design. In summary, Zeiss loupe is an excellent optical tool. If you are interested in 10x magnifier, I will strongly recommend it.

Bogus restocking fee
It's quite small and its focal length is not ideal, and the build is very plastic. It doesn't resemble my old zeiss loupes. My father is a master diamond setter with over 50 years of experience and he's had many loupes in his lifetime and this one he didn't like, so naturally we returned it. On the listing there is no mention of a restocking fee unless you return it after 30 days or return it damaged. I got charged 20% for a restocking fee, I'm sorry what? it's in the exact condition and packaging, it tiny and weighs nothing, what exactly is the herculean task of restocking this? Tried contacting the seller twice with no reply. Now I got to use amazon's A-Z guarantee.

Rock Solid Performance In Every Way
Hard to beat for the price. I only wish there was some way to easily attach a neck strap. I'm certainly not the first to mention this. Why they stubbornly refuse to accommodate something so obvious is a mystery.

Zeiss quality is legendary.
Optically great, almost as great as my planar, sonnar and distagon lenses I have used for decades.

easy to use
Cheap, easy to use, well-built, can get wet, small enough to take with you all the time. I bought a fine watch years ago but as I've aged, it has gotten harder to read some of the dials on the watch face- it is a perpetual calendar mechanical watch. This is the answer for me. I can continue to wear my favorite watch and still be able to read the dials.
