Q: Does each hard drive in the bay show up as an individual disk on the desktop?

Hi, this enclosure does show up as 5 individual disks, there is no Raid, it`s a JBOD enclosure. Hope this helps.

Hi AP, I would not recommend placing it horizontally. 1. The top magnetic cover is not strong and it is easier to loose from the body if put horizontally; 2. The shock absorbing feet are at the base only; 3. vent surface, switch and power point are at the back.

Q: Hi Orico, can we put 2.5" drives into this enclosure? Specifically 15mm thick 2.5" hard drives fitted directly into the enclosure.

2.5 inch HDD will connect anyway but will just stand in the air with nothing to support, which is not secure. Fixing are sold separately.

Q: Do the hard drives shut down when not in use?

Yes. The manual states they shut down after 30 minutes, but in reality the interval is much shorter than that. There doesn't seem to be a way to adjust this
