Very fragile but work great!
I gave my wife one of those book nook craft kits for Christmas. When she finished assembling it I wired it up. The capacitive touch switch for the tiny LEDs was very poor quality. Occasionally it would turn on, confirming I had wired it correctly, but it wasn't remotely reliable. The theme of the set was magic house (a Harry Potter / Hogwarts knockoff), so I told her I would fix it with magic. I ordered these. I broke the first two as I tried to get it into position, but the third one worked great. I buried a tiny neodymium magnet inside the bristles of a TINY broom and now when she moves it to a particular corner of the room the lights turn on. The reed in these switches have to be sensitive enough to move from the field from the little ~1/8" magnet through 1/8" of plywood and a little additional gap from the placement inside the broom. Very impressive!

Mag switch
The device Is as advertised. Not mentioned or noted the switch and mag have a more sensitive placement. They can be further apart with the mag on one side vs the other. Need to test it as nothing is shown. I gained about an additional 1/4” of spacing. I used on my garage door to indicate open or closed. Works fine.

Securing the Contact to the RV
The position of the holes to mount the contact is important. Instead of mounting the contact with screws, it had to be glued to the floor. An L-Shaped contact would have been preferable.

Break very easily
I guess this is to be expected, since they're glass. But they break so easily that I shattered two of them just bending the leads down to plug them into a breadboard. If you don't necessarily need them to be glass then I suggest you go with the plastic case. That said, they work perfectly, as long as you don't break them. And in fact, they actually still work when the glass case is shattered. But if you both break the glass and pull the leads apart, which is very easy to accidentally do with these, then it won't work. Also the magnets are absolute garbage, they're weaker than my fridge magnets and have to be just about touching the reed switch before it will flip. The reed switches work great if you use a different magnet. As long as you actually need the glass ones, these are as good as any.

Not what I wanted
These switches are extremely fragile, but that can be mitigated by careful handling. Don't bend close to the connector. However, the worse thing is that the reeds would latch instead of make break. In other words, introduce a magnetic field and the switch turn on. Remove the field.... the switch sometimes stayed ON. Latched, that is. Not at all suitable for my on-off application.

Item works, came on time, inexpensive
Item came on time, safe company to do business with. The reeds have always worked in the past. The protective box does take a little space - think about that for very tight fits. Inexpensive enough just to try if necessary.

Working perfectly right off the package
Working perfectly right off the package. Very easy to install.

Used on my car's proximity key
Nifty little devices, but you must take extreme care when bending or cutting the wires. The side that reacts the best to magnetism seems to be the side with the two faint black circles. I used them in some proximity keys for a car, and these keys did not have an "off" feature (kinda silly). The key is normally off now, unless my magnetic ring is nearby.Highly recommend doubling / tripling these things up for redundancy and using stronger magnets with them.
