Like Cliff Notes - for USA food values

4/4/17 updated from 4 stars to 5 stars. Great hard copy reverence because of the way the food values are sorted ! I'm using this book daily.Good resource if you want "Just the Values". Two pages of overview on carbohydrates, Glycemic Index, and Gylcemic load, etc. The remaining 246 pages are 5 tables that are sorted so you can find the glycemic food values based on Carbohydrate, GI, GL, Fiber, and food category (look at the cover). I liked it so much I bought her 2 cookbooks.

Great References

As a diabetic, I have watched my A1C slowly increase while on oral medication. The charts in this book along with the information given really make sense. Very educational and I hope to see my numbers fall by using this information.

Book sucks

Worst book ever. Good luck finding something . They are all mixed up together in the book. If you wanted to look up Carrots in the book, you have hunt for it because they aren’t list alphabetically.

I wanted a listing of glycemic index and glycemic load in one place and found it in this book. Perfect for me.

Did not work for me

Book was in good shape and delivered fine. Unfortunately, I found this book to be somewhat confusing in the layout of data, and what appeared to be some conflicting data on the same item listed more than one time. The book reads that based on how the food item is prepared can impact the data. I know the basics of what can impact the GI/GL from how some foods are cooked already. There are references to the study publications that you have to go find to see what the details may be. I have done a lot of research on GI and GL's (no expert however) but some of the data just didn't quite line up to what many other resources provided. Not a great or quick "cheat sheet" for me. I wanted something much clearer and simple. I can't return it because I was so excited to dig into into and start highlighting items, which is how I began to realize it was not working for me.
