Solid product, solid app, takes bird watching to a whole new level
I got this for my wife for Mother's Day and we have really enjoyed using it. Unfortunately, the first week we got it the company was experiencing server issues so it was not working correctly but they got this resolved after a few days and now everything works fine. We definitely wanted the Bird AI identifier so we went for the more expensive unit with the lifetime subscription to the identifier service. At $5/month, this service will pay for itself within the first year. It gets the birds correct most of the time but not all of the time and when it does not, you can report it which is nice. It shows the service is always improving. I found out about the service issues via chat on their website, so I would say they have pretty good customer support as well. The unit itself is nothing fancy, just plastic housing but it does the trick. The parts are easy to assemble, the base locks in nice and tight but is easy to swivel and the cover is easy to open and protects the feeder from rain (a gentle down rain, not a hard blowing one). There are holes in the bottom so if/when rain does hit the bird seed, it will drain out. We have ours mounted to a shepard's hook and it has done a great job of staying in place. We tried out the solar panel but sent it back because the attachment that would have allowed us to wrap the cord up did not come with the unit or the solar panel. We also have ours installed under a big tree, so it would not get much sunshine. I will say though, a lot of folks on the Netvue Facebook forum say that the solar panel does a great job of keeping their feeder charged all the time.It comes with a huge, huge battery that takes forever to charge but lasts a long time depending on bird activity. Obviously the more the activity the more power it uses so individual results will vary. It took the birds about a week to find our new unit and since then it has been a feeding frenzy as in a full feeder is emptied by noon. One criticism I have about this feeder is that I think the food comes out to easily. It will allow larger birds to land and feast and I think there is a good amount of spillage from this. The squirrels just sit at the base and feed as well. I used the included squirrel baffle and I saw one squirrel defeat it once but have not seen squirrels do it again. My guess is that it is because there is ample food at the bottom. One of the other features I really like about this unit is that you can use it as a security camera. So it picks me up in the backyard and we have it by our shed so if anyone were to come and steal some tools or a bike from it they would get caught on the cam and the cam would send it to the cloud so we would have them. Plus we have night vision as well. We get free, 7 days of stored video, so in addition to the Bird AI identifier for life we get free cloud storage. You can pay more and get more but this is sufficient for us. It is nice to have this though because it is free. I signed up for the free bird identifier just didn't know that 7 days free cloud storage comes as well.It is expensive for what it is and we considered sending it back but am glad we decided to keep it now. After the novelty of it wears off within the first week or so we did get enjoyment out of seeing the different birds that visited our feeder. It also makes us happy to be able to provide our backyard birds with food. We have a sparrow that notices when we fill it up and will start squawking letting all the other birds know that the feeder is full again. The camera is a really nice unit as well, clear videos, easy to set up, great wifi range. All in all, we are really pleased with this unit. You pay a lot but you get a lot. Again, my only criticisms are the high initial cost and the fact that the food falls out kindof easily. Some folks on the facebook forums have posted pics of what they have done to improve food retention. Other than this little nit picky gripes, we have been very happy with this feeder, the app, and the experience.

Nice
Not mine. Got this as a gift for my Sister. Didn't really give it much thought. She Loves it!!! Sends me Stills and Videos every day. It can identify many different types of birds. Most you don't see everyday. She plays with it with different kinds of seed or nuts. I think it's amazing that different foods will attract different animals. Mr. Chong, a squirrel, comes several times a day for peanuts. The video is clear enough to show that there is a Mrs. Chong also. Due to the vid clarity, the Chongs now have a family somewhere nearby. Sisters only complaint is having to recharge it. But she keeps it under cover on the porch. So it isn't in direct sunlight all of the time. If this is something you might be interested in, give it a try.

Bought for my dad -- now he's obsessed!
I bought this as a birthday gift for my dad who's hard to shop for (he has everything). He's a retiree who lives in Florida and loves walking around to look at the wildlife. I knew he owned a giant outdoor camera that stands in his back yard and that he watches every morning, but it isn't condusive to seeing birds. So, I sent him this feeder and a bag of generic birdseed. I was worried about his being able to set up the app, and I was worried that he'd have to pay a subscription fee (yes, I read the product info and I intellectually knew it would be free to use, but it seemed too good to be true). Before I even realized it arrived, he'd already set it up and started watching birds! He says the app is super easy to use (for free, as promised), and that he loves getting notifications about the different birds! The only negative: He's now obsessed. He tries all different bird seeds, checks every notification on his phone, and blows up my phone with pictures/videos of birds. This is definitely the best gift I've ever gotten him. He's had it for two months now and it's still going strong!1,000/10 stars!
