A fairy story for today.
This is not my kind of film at all. I bought it as I enjoy Matthew McConaughey's work - Dallas Buyers Club: True Detective and I wanted to see him playing a conventional part. After all he is very beautiful, but is now playing against physical type. So here we have the beautiful princess and the handsome prince both of whom have good jobs in today's world, a writer for a womens' magazine and an advertising executive. So they both sell glossy, and the film is glossy, shiney, sparkly, and of course it all leads to a happy ending. It's that type of film And for me yes, Matthew McConaughey behaved beautifully as the handsome prince - but I prefer the way out crazy characters he plays now.

No hankies required
This is a good film, but I found parts of it strangely unenjoyable. Kate Hudson (Andie) plays a writer for a woman's magazine who sets out to date a man then do as many things as she can to get him to dump her. This is so she can then write an article entitled "how to lose a guy in 10 day."By chance, Matthew McConaughey (Ben) makes a bet that in only 10 days he can make any woman fall in love with him and then bring her to a party for the launch of a diamond advertising campaign. If Ben can do this he gets to lead the advertising campaign. It is Ben's advertising rivals who choose Andie for him to try and make her love him. Both play their parts well but there is so much negativity in the relationship from Andie and so much of Ben being treated like a doormat and putting up with it, that it became unenjoyable for me. The joke wore thin in other words and that was the films flaw for me.Of course it improves when both actually do start to fall in love with each other when visiting Ben's family, who are genuinely loving and all of which suffer from terets! There are some well acted tender moments when love is realised and they both stop their deception, but they are locked on a collision course for destruction because the truth must come out!It ends thankfully well, like most romantic films do, but no need for the tissues, just a sigh of relief! It is a good film well worth the watch but only 4 stars.

A Must-See
One of my favourite films. I can watch it over and over again without tiring of it. Acting from both Kate and Matthew is amazing throughout. Definitely a must-see film if you like a girly movie (that perhaps even some guys might appreciate aswell), a good laugh and a nice ending. I love it. There's a nice amount of romance in it without it being too "Slushy" and I do like comedy in movies too. The DVD has a director's commenatry on it, also worth a watch, especially if you like behind-the-scenes knowledge. Very interesting :)

Funny to hilarious
Obviously, a rather shallow romantic comedy with somewhat average acting but hilarious enough to watch it every once in a while. Very instructive as to truly off-putting behaviours.

Kate Hudson is gorgeous in this...
Its the only reason I got it and its the main reason I love it... who wouldn't want to play a game of 'bullsh#t' with Kate!? I'm also a big fan of Matthew McConaughey and he plays his part really well, so I guess its a film for both the girls and the boys... could earn you some brownie points for when the big action blockbuster comes on and she want's to watch something else...!?

Bad joke
I bought this as a joke for my girlfriend on her birthday. She didn't think the joke was funny but on a separate note the DVD is also great to watch when you're single

I love Kate Hudson
I had a craving to watch this film for ages! It's a great film, shows its age a bit but still good. I was surprised at the price when it's clearly not a new film anymore!
