Just add a drive
Took a 4TB drive out of a WD My Cloud and repurposed it as a backup drive. Cool!

Works just like any external drive. What more can be said?
All the connectors feel solid enough that I'm confident it would last a long time, even if it is moved around a lot. The only exception might be the internal SATA connector. It doesn't have much vertical support so it can be moved up and down a bit, but I don't know if it's directly soldered to the circuit board, or if it has a cable. If it does have a cable then the freedom of movement won't affect durability. In fact it may improve durability in some ways if someone got too aggressive inserting or removing a drive.3.5 inch hard drives can be screwed in via the matching screw holes in the bottom of the case. In fact, they even included screws for that purpose. :) You can also plug in a laptop hard drive, or an SSD into the connector, and electrically it will work just fine. However, there's no physical support inside nor does it lay flat on the case bottom, so it will be supported entirely by the SATA connector. This is fine for temporary use, like if your laptop's mainboard or screen burned out and you're trying to rescue the hard drive, but moving the setup while it's connected that way probably isn't good for it. Also, if you're going to be switching drives on a daily basis, a toaster-style docking station or a hot swap bay enclosure will probably last longer. But for my occasional usage as an individual, it will work fine.I can't really comment on electrical reliability since I've only had it a month, but I may update the review at a later date, stating whether it still works or not.Edit to add: I did discover one issue with the device, I could not get it to work through the powered J5 Create USB hub that is on my desk by the monitor: I had to plug the enclosure directly into the computer itself before my computer would see it. I don't know if that's an issue with the enclosure itself, the hub or compatibility between the two. So, if it doesn't seem to work, try it directly on your computer before you return it. I'll check if J5 create has a driver for the hub that improves compatibility. I don't know which product is to blame, so I won't knock a star off. I did look on RSHTECH's website to see if they had a driver that improves compatibility, but they do not.

Works great with some caveats
All in all, I can't complain too much. For the price, it works pretty much as expected. However, there's two issues I noticed practically right away:1. When reporting the serial number to the OS, it reports the serial number of the enclosure, not the drive inside it. This can lead to issues when seeking support for the drive as the user will hhave to manually open the enclosure and retrieve the S/N from the physical label on the hard drive itself.2. The enclosure doesn't automatically power down the drive when the computer it's attached to is powered off. This results in unnecessary wear and tear on the drive due toto the lack of signals from the OS to spin down the drive during inactivity, as well as vampire power being drawn unless the user manually powers the enclosure down as well. All in all, there are workarounds for these issues, but the issues themselves can cause some problems if the user is unaware. It would be far better if the issues were solved by the manufacturer in a new version of this product.Despite these issues, the enclosure works as intended, with my Seagate Ironwolf drive performing at the expected speeds, and so if the issues are insignificant to you, this could very easily suit your needs.

Great case with a good price
Works great, love the feature to hold the button for 3 seconds before shut down, it prevents accidentally turning off the drive. The data transfer/ power light is perfect, its not so bright that it lights up the room like another enclosure I had. Very good case, would definitely recommend.

Works Great. Ordered another one.
I just upgraded an 8 year old Dell Computer that had a pair of mirrored 3.5" 650GB drives. I copied all the data I wanted off the old computer and onto the new computer but, of course, later realized I missed some data. Rather than hooking up the old computer again I removed one of the drives from the old computer and bought one of these enclosures. It went together in a couple of minutes and came right up. Transfer speed is great. I like it so much I decided to buy another for the second drive on the old computer - which I'll reformat and use for backup or portable data. Some comments:1) It took 10 seconds or so for Windows 10 to recognize the unit and establish the drives (the drive had two partitions).2) Once you've "ejected" the drive from Windows you have to hold the power button for 3 or more seconds to power down the unit. I kept thinking the power button was broken. I had to dig the instructions out of the trash.3) The files I were trying to recover were on my Windows desktop on the old computer. When I first brought the drive up on the new computer it showed no files in that directory. I had to tell Windows to "take ownership" of the drive before I could get access. This isn't an issue with the enclosure but a security feature in Windows. Just something to be aware of.4) It works almost like a USB drive except that it has to be plugged in. A USB port can't provide enough power to spin up the drive apparently. Again, not an issue but be aware it is not quite as convenient as, say, a "Passport" drive or USB drive.

Works very well
I have 2, and I use both. I’ve had the first one for over 2 years & the second for a few months. Both have done what they need to. They look ugly admittedly but they function. The only “issue” I’ve really had is the ones that I have function slightly different. There must’ve been some sort of hardware revision between ~2 years ago & the current one because the new one is different with the power button, for one you have to hold it down to power on and the other you only press it. If you hold down the power button on the one where you only press it it doesn’t turn on & vice versa. But it’s fine, the manuals have the different instructions on how to turn it on it’s just a bit annoying to remember & probably won’t be a problem for anyone else.
