Excellent home power tool
Met expectations for quality and performance. I used the sander on a20 square foot hardwood floor. I did apply downward pressure with good results. The dust bag is small and a lot of dust escaped. I'm sure attaching a shop vacuum would help with the dust. The belt tracked very well, was easy to adjust (which was infrequently) and was easy to replace.

FULLY MEET MY NEEDS
I have had a woodworking shop for several years, although I am not a professional by any means. I am still in the process of buying a few tools I would like to feel like my shop is fully equipped, but I am not sure there is ever an end to that process. One of those tools I had put off buying for years was a portable belt sander. I always "made-do" with the variety of other sanders I owned, but when recently building some shaker doors, I finally pulled the trigger and bought this belt sander to help get that flawless finish at the frame joints. I really wanted a Makita, but didn't want to spend over $300 for a tool I would only use a few times a year. So, I opted for this Wen. Although the reviews were mixed, I took a chance on it. At 7.5 amps, it has plenty of power for my needs. It is light enough for me to have good control. Important to me is the fact it tracks nicely. Once set, it is good to go. I know it is cheap, and you always get what you pay for, but at this price, I figure if it lasted me only through this one kitchen remodel, it more than paid for itself. So far, it is working excellent for me. If it burns up this week, I already got my money's worth, but it is still running strong. Certainly not all, but some of my tools are cheap, disposables and that is alright with me. But some of those "disposables" surprise me and just keep going and going. This one is a pleasant surprise for me.

A good value. It isn't professional grade and isn't priced like it is.
It's a good value. It isn't a professional grade sander and isn't priced like one. It served well for the smaller project I needed it for. It seems no worse for wear so I expect it to last for more smaller jobs. The dust port seems to be redesigned and is now round and should attach to vacuum dust collectors. The little included dust bag is small and of minimal usefullness. I didn't have any unexpected issues with paper alignment. You do need to check it and adjust as needed but there are no issues if you keep an eye on it. If you use uneven pressure the paper will get off track fairly quickly. So use even pressure!

3x21 sander
Shopped around and decided on the WEN 7.5 amp 3x21 sander, as I had sold a 4x21 Porter Cable sander that I've used for years which had become to large and heavy for my current projects ( retired woodworker still just producing smaller items ) it is a perfect size for my shop and for me. It is obviously not on the caliber of the Porter Cable and if leaned on will slow down but all in all so far a good buy for the money. I have several pieces of WEN machinery in my shop and have been very satisfied with the performance and quality of build. Most times up and running right out of the box with very little adjustment needed.

UNSAFE Upon Receipt
The “1”rating is generous considering the event that took place when the sander was plugged in for the first time! The trigger was stuck in the ON position and the sander took off. Fortunately, no one was injured as my wife was behind me and the sander was on the floor. After reading several reviews about the items being received in “used” condition, I verified that I was purchasing it from Wen and thought sure that they wouldn’t do something like that. However, when I opened the package and examined the sander I found that the drive roller slightly worn and scratches on the bottom plate.A good belt sander costs upward of $300 and I just needed one to smooth a couple of seams on our bathroom floor during our remodel. Maybe 15 minutes to do. Just goes to show that you get what you pay for. This was my first and last Wen purchase

WEN STUFF - Always priced right
I have used the heck out of this thing the last week or so. I also own many other WEN products and most of them are as good as anybody else's product and usually at half the price.
